Ah he got nothing .Firstly he is claiming off himself .As no other vehicle was involved he cannot claim loss of earnings .I think if they offered loss of earnings we might just report your motor stolen when you go on holidays and park it up somewhere get paid then mysteriously find the car .This has been a total shit show .No parts available Insurance would not pay the Labour rate MG quoted .So they sent it to their designated Spanner Jugglers who couldnot source the parts .They offered my mate his car back I told him to tell them to Fuck off .If he removed it from them they would say he refused their services .A quick Phone call and threat of a Solicitors letter to have the Vehicle written off and Loss of Earnings seems to have gotten things moving .But I wait to see the car back on the road fully restored .

Just goes to show how vulnerable we are to being off the road with these new vehicles and all their expensive gadgets. If I had to rent I'd have a meltdown.

You could be the safest driver out there but all it takes is some arsehole to break a red light and you're gonzo.  Horrible thought for a sunny Monday  oops

I'm beginning to think along the same lines.  Maybe from a long-term business perspective we might be better off buying second-hand despite the crazy prices at the moment.  If something breaks, you can usually source the part from the breakers and be back on the road earning money in a day or two...

Nice one!

All's well that ends well.

I can't imagine you or most of the other lads on here going to the extent of renting! What'd concern me would be if such forced downtime prevented renewing the plate on time hence (presumably) causing the heavy lads from enforcement to knock on your door demanding their 10-20 large in used notes.

Not all the bits that needed replacing were replaced as they are not even in the Country YET ..Suitability on 5th so no chance of NCT and Booking by then so 500 penalty for missed renewal .

I think the penalty is halved if you can get it passed out within a month of the deadline so there is (some) hope.  Having said that, just warn your pal that Linders staff will be completely uninterested in his situation.

Johhny… what’s the main points to take away here.

Is it don’t buy a nua heep?

Is it don’t buy a lekky heep?

Is it don’t buy a heep with lacklustre after sales support?

Is it as taxidrivers/men are we financially vulnerable to external forces beyond our control?

What would the heepjockey in question do different hindsight being what it is.

Let’s take the positive ooot of the negatives heeer

Panel allgood Points .

I Got the MG EV would not go back to Diesel as I live in the City rural or doing Grulers I would stay Diesel or possibly Hybrid ..The issue with this motor is the Parts that were stripped by the Thieves would probably never ever have to be replaced in an accident .They were ripped out because the Thieves believed they were possibly a camera .So I would think these parts are NEVER reordered so would not be available off the shelf  There is a lack of technitians to fix the EVs but in time that will sort itself out .MG in Ballymount only want to Sell the cars and plug in the computer at service time not repair accident damage .Linders probably more likely to repair after accident .The Insurance preferred repairshops lack specialists and the Spare Parts are hard to obtain off the shelf .

For me Personally I like the EV nice to drive and you feel you are doing a small bit to save the Planet OH did I mention 15K on the road was the only logical conclusion at Replacement time .Or if you like I DID IT FOR THE MONEY .
