Panel allgood Points .

I Got the MG EV would not go back to Diesel as I live in the City rural or doing Grulers I would stay Diesel or possibly Hybrid ..The issue with this motor is the Parts that were stripped by the Thieves would probably never ever have to be replaced in an accident .They were ripped out because the Thieves believed they were possibly a camera .So I would think these parts are NEVER reordered so would not be available off the shelf  There is a lack of technitians to fix the EVs but in time that will sort itself out .MG in Ballymount only want to Sell the cars and plug in the computer at service time not repair accident damage .Linders probably more likely to repair after accident .The Insurance preferred repairshops lack specialists and the Spare Parts are hard to obtain off the shelf .

For me Personally I like the EV nice to drive and you feel you are doing a small bit to save the Planet OH did I mention 15K on the road was the only logical conclusion at Replacement time .Or if you like I DID IT FOR THE MONEY .

Evs are the way of the future no question there and they’re a no-brainer for many taxi drivers, however I wouldn’t  buy one partly there’s no good decent range WAVS Evs yet.

And I still like ice cars

Talking to a few who’ve bought a EV WAV (e-Rifter) they tell me they’re getting a real world range of less than 200klms, unless your doing shopping centre work it’s not worth a fuck.

How many cripples use wheelchair accessible taxis for shopping? Not worth the investment.

You was robbed 'erm. I was talking with an immigrant who paid €8,500 (after deducting grant aid and the €1,200 he got off the scrapyard for his 2015 Prius) for a 251 reg MG5 (same model as yours in a different colour) earlier this year.

Obviously you can't beat diesel for convenience. I doubt many taximen would go EV without grant aid but with grant aid there's no getting away from the fact that you're getting a lot of car for your money where the EV is concerned. However, I don't think that justifies forcing men to scrap perfectly good cars based on age, particularly where some were given age extensions and others weren't. Putting cars into scrapyards in favour of depleting natural resources to manufacture EVs that require twice as much energy to operate and to ship them halfway round the world is never going to be anything other than harmful to the environment. I guess Govt thinking is that if folk see taximen using EVs it may encourage greater general uptake which combined with vastly increasing energy generated from renewables ought to reap substantial environmental gains in the future.

If it doesn't have a roof sign and door stickers it's not a taxi.

The beast is rebuilt but now the Computer will not recognise the new parts .So Not repaired not driveable .Questions about did the Meter installation effect the rebuild or was the designated repair shop trained in rebuilding EVs .Smells like the Four Goldmines may get involved in this shitfest 10 weeks off the Road .Might be a serious issue in future how repairable are EVs ?

I doubt the mirror/camera/sensor unit is EV specific... most likely just powered off the 12v battery not dissimilar to any modern motor car. Taking the meter out would eliminate that from the equation. How long does it have to be irreparable before it gets written off?

That question already asked no answer but they only value an 8 month old car at 25K cost 37K

Not a ev specific issue John. Only difference between Ice and ev cars are the means of propulsion.

Ice cars have all the safety systems that a ev car has.

I’m trying to embrace a non tech lifestyle, ice cars… cash when I can.. limited use of debit cards..

Even bought a Nokia 6310i there the other week, wonder can I get the forum on WAP?
