I doubt the mirror/camera/sensor unit is EV specific... most likely just powered off the 12v battery not dissimilar to any modern motor car. Taking the meter out would eliminate that from the equation. How long does it have to be irreparable before it gets written off?

That question already asked no answer but they only value an 8 month old car at 25K cost 37K

That seems very low. I'd argue that 12.5% depreciation per year would be fair. However, is there not a provision in insurance policies that allows a new car for any write off under 12 months old?

In any event, should it be written off I'd suggest employing an "independent" assessor... also stick the details in Revenues VRT calculator ( https://www.ros.ie/evrt-enquiry/vrtenquiry.html ) but bear in mind Revenue tends to adopt rather prudent (on the low side) valuations.

+1 on the assessor if it gets to that.  We had a water/bathroom leak a few years ago.  I believe the default is 'wear & tear and go fukk yerself.'  But he argued our corner and got us a good lump sum.  I think the system is fixed though.  Our guy was 'our guy' for that week but the following week, he could be working for the insurance company afaik.  So I guess they all scratch each other's back to make sure the system move along quickly (they work on commission).

The beast is rebuilt but now the Computer will not recognise the new parts .So Not repaired not driveable .Questions about did the Meter installation effect the rebuild or was the designated repair shop trained in rebuilding EVs .Smells like the Four Goldmines may get involved in this shitfest 10 weeks off the Road .Might be a serious issue in future how repairable are EVs ?

If it's Linders, it might be worthwhile waiting a day and asking again.  I believe it's possible to get 3 different answers to the same question if you ask it three times.  Or so I've heard

 Hope all goes well John for your mate.Hals gone AWOL so I'll fill yis in even though I didn't ask him if it was ok..sorry....his car was diagnosed after 6 weeks waiting for an appointment and after a couple of days they've ordered the parts for the charging system and it could take between 2 and 8 weeks.So his car can be fast charged and driven but not on the house charger.It's costing him a lot more on the fast chargers but the delays are unreal.The part costs over 3k to order in.

These dealers do not give a flying fuk whether you need your vehicle for work or not.If you do but an EV try get one that won't break down.Stay well away from MSL.

Relatively easy problem from me I'm now waiting a month to hear back on my torn door seals.Zero communication form MSL.I might just buy them meslef and blank them.

When I done the lookie lookie for an EV the one with the least problems looked to be the MG 5 .Tesla was by far the worst but it was also the oldest so probably longer to show up faults .As of now only a puncture to report .find the car a bit electrickey smelling when heater is on so have a spray air freshner  So far so good .I also have a door seal ripping issue on Drivers side .Ask at next service interval see what they say ?

Tesla are more advanced that the competition but that brings more complicated problems like everything.

My door sealed aren't leaking but it's just the cheapo materials they use.The sales man tried to make it out to be a wear and tear issue but there's fuk all mileage mine.The'yre selling average quality vehicles at Mercedes prices it ends up in shite customer service.Usually they can disguise how slow they are by giving out a loaner but that's not much use to us.

I went for the Primark version cheap seats cheap alloys not up to me to pay for passenger comforts .Seat covering is poor finishing over all is good those door seals are flimsy .Steering Wheel showing a bit of wear and I do not wear a ring .15K no real complaint but if I paid 35K I dont know if I would be satisfied with the finish .

Yeah John the problem is these cars are being sold in China for less than 20k without grants so they'll cut back on the quality of certain parts hoping nobody will notice.

About the door seals..
The fact that both our door seals from two different brands are falling apart could be due to one big supplier making stuff a bit cheaper to save money.I'd say a lot of these Chinese yokes have some shared parts.They have over 50 car brands in China that we haven't even heard of.

Just talking to the Balbriggan Baron .We need to check if the passenger side rubber is better quality as they drive on the other side of the road .Passenger rubber could be better quality if they are interchangeable ?

My rear passenger side one is a lot worse than the opposite one.That's the side we usually get most single passengers getting in so it's worn more.They're likey using some recycled materials.
