When I done the lookie lookie for an EV the one with the least problems looked to be the MG 5 .Tesla was by far the worst but it was also the oldest so probably longer to show up faults .As of now only a puncture to report .find the car a bit electrickey smelling when heater is on so have a spray air freshner  So far so good .I also have a door seal ripping issue on Drivers side .Ask at next service interval see what they say ?

For a lot of lads it's as much about being able to repair them or get them repaired in a timely fashion as reliability. 10 weeks off the road for a relatively minor problem would be a major headache for a younger lad with a mortgage and childers to educate.... not to mention the prospect of NTAs heavy lads from enforcement banging your door down looking for their €10-20 large back in used notes. With VW (for example) we all know they're not the most reliable yokes on the road but we also know bits and pieces are readily available and if you don't mind getting your hands dirty most faults will be rectified within a day or two and will cost less than the price of an EV tyre once the warranty expires. In warranty main dealer repairs are generally quick enough, probably within a week or so, for established brands such as VW, Toyota, etc...

Anywaysanall, good news on the stolen car. All's well trhat ends well, I guess.

If it doesn't have a roof sign and door stickers it's not a taxi.

Nobody carries spares as the product changes by the week unlike Tesla same car is 8 years old .Anudder thing .The Chinease car manufacturers use Just on Time delivery .If they need 1000 items per day thats exactly how many they will get delivered the crowd who make the parts will only make 1000 per day .So any spares mess up the delivery .Plus there are huge problems in China with Suppliers getting paid they have to wait until the car is sold before they get paid .So tens of thousands of unsold cars messes up the payment system .So based on money there is none to be made by holding a lot of spares .

The Japs invented JIT. Hence you can get any part for a Toyota (or Sony, Panasonic, Mitsubishi, Sharp, etc) manufactured in the last couple of decades anywhere in the world within a day or so, within reason.

MG probably made more profit from the little few bits and pieces the stolen car needed than from selling the car. That's where the money is which might explain why they're not too concerned with wear and tear. We might consider Toyota service intervals to be mad in this day and age but there's method in the madness, no doubt about that.

About Hals heap...
The car has two charging methods.Slow charger off the house and fast charge at the petrol station.

His slow charger on the car won't work so he's sitting for an hour everyday paying for pricey electricity at whatever public charger he's using.I think most of us would agree there's no point having an electric car if you can't charge it cheaply and while you're in bed.

The dealer isn't much help and don't seem too bothered about his situation.

Has he been quoted to fix the issue? I assume he’s out of warranty

Yes Panel it's covered under warranty but it took them six weeks to get him in for diagnostics and now they're waiting on the parts which could be another six weeks.

I've said it before there's no point having a warranty if it takes them months to resolve the issue.I assume it's cost him a good few quid extra on electricity too with the public charging.
