A big shout out to Zack Bryan
« on: June 23, 2025, 08:12:31 pm »
Thanks for filling the coffers this weekend. Until last Thursday I hadn't heard of him.

180,000 extra punters into the city, alongside the concerts in Fairview Park, plus the Dublin team playing in a virtually empty Croke Park.

It was a disappointing end to the year for the thousands of Limerick fans in an official attendance of 36546 who made the journey to Dublin [ 35K needed just to break even].

Do the sticker lads have to do a percentage of them to stay in the gang?

When they introduced taxi saver rates they said they wouldn't apply during peak hours or to DAP pickups. Both of those assertions have proved to be false.

You can tell when they're lying, their virtual lips move.
If it doesn't have a roof sign and door stickers it's not a taxi.

After the gigs, Uber would have a message like "€5.00 TIP on this job". No one complained.

On Friday night I dropped three teachers [ culchies], from Clontarf Castle to, firstly Swords, then a double-drop in Donabate.

28.2 kms on tariff three = €77.60.

The last one complained at the price saying it's dearer than normal. so I explained why there's a tariff 3 on Fri/Sat between 00.00 - 04.00. She asked for a receipt. No problem. One comment was "Is there any wonder we don't go to town often?" She then walked into a garden with a 242 D Range Rover parked on the driveway.

Not bad for someone who only works half the year!

It's expensive alright but they could get the train or stay up above in Dublin for the night.... or look for a taxi saver fare from Free Now? When I worked for Swords cabs most of us would convince city bound fares to take the bus from Swords... or at least try to. I guess that saved them a few bob and they could do the same in the way home.

Serves her right for buying a gaff in Donabate. It was a C2K overflow job. 15%.

Be careful with those "tip included" jobs on Uber....as far as I know the passenger can remove it after the journey has begun. So in the US they put a big juicy tip on or whatever then driver turns up and they remove the tip. It's called tip baiting apparently.

In the good old days of used notes if they offered a big tip you'd make sure you got it up front!

Women customers are always the tightest. Iv had female customers ask me out who didnt even tip me, I never said yes to them as I thought, if they fancy you and won't even tip you, how miserable are they? They probably begrudge giving the fare, never mind a tip.

I find the young ladies tend to be careful with money... which is a good thing really... Look after the cent and the euros will look after themselves!

I guess another consideration is the driver himself. We have very diverse cultures, some of which may be offended by a tip. A man who has circumvented the globe in search of a better life may  well take pride in being Free Now and running his own business successfully without needing charitable donations.

I find younger women are shit with money. They all think they can spend like there's no tomorrow and then just marry some sucker with a big wallet. Even some not so good looking women think like that but they will find out quick enough that it won't work out.

It's always good to have female friends, they will show you how women think and why they do the things they do. It's scary.

They run rings around older guys especially.

On another note most of them can't even cook, I'm a better cook than them.
