Initially, yes. He had no intention of negotiating with Uber. He's not stupid... he knew full well that Uber wasn't going to negotiate it's drivers' remuneration with a direct competitor so that was pure lies. He wants to get Uber out of Cork and the easiest way to do that is to convince as many drivers as he can to delete the app. However, he is right in suggesting that protesting drivers should delete the app. It's very confusing for customers and highly amusing for Uber watching drivers protest against the firm while working for it when not protesting.
In short, I agree that he's a devious shyster but I kinda agree with him nonetheless.
