Was it a fixed fare?
If it doesn't have a roof sign and door stickers it's not a taxi.

Quote
-- MAN who took a €550 taxi ride from Cork to Kildare Town station and then did a runner...
-- “As soon as I was arrested (on 25 January) I handed over €300”.

-- However, Judge Zaidan was a tad more forgiving, saying: “to be fair to this young man, what he is saying may help his case”.

I wonder if the Judge would be ok if he only got paid half his salary next month?

Imagine how sickened you would be if someone did that. Still why are lads not getting money up front, I would get money up from for anything over 100 euro.

Shows the importance of have CCTV in the taxi as well, id say that would stop plenty from doing a runner.

My worry would be that they'd give you the €100 at the beginning and then rob it back off you with violence at the end.  Better to lose the money and stay healthy?

You could get a digital payment instead?

I did a run before Christmas on a Sunday, long trip, 1 young lad, he was very quiet which had me on alert so I pulled in 5 minutes into the journey and got the payment by card, €90, got another €15 off him when we got there as meter said €105.

Good idea!  I guess my habits were formed in pre-digital times  :o  Though I suppose they could try and rob your float.  Some of them would be that stupid even if they paid by card already.

I have a low opinion of my passengers - must try to be more positive  lol

I'd never really be worried about them robbing me, it's more that it's easier for them to start bitching once you get to the destination if they haven't paid yet.
