National Maximum Fare Review

The National Maximum Fare Review is currently in progress, and a confidential telephone survey of approximately 500 drivers nationwide has now commenced. The information gathered will help the NTA assess key factors such as insurance, fuel and other operating costs, in addition to current levels of taxi demand and supply.

We would like to thank all drivers who have already taken part. If you receive a call in the coming weeks, the NTA encourages you to participate in the survey.

The National Maximum Taxi Fare Review is carried out by the NTA approximately every two years to monitor changes in operating costs for taxi owners, renters and drivers.
If it doesn't have a roof sign and door stickers it's not a taxi.

They should round up every fare to the nearest euro, rise short trips and leave the rest alone.

I wonder is this review on schedule or is it another tactic to delay dealing with Uber et al side-stepping the max. fare structure?
Getting old is compulsory whilst growing up is voluntary.

They rang me a few weeks back. I wondered if it was a tad early but I guess they have to put whatever they decide out to public consultation and prepare any resultant technical documents. Costs have probably fallen on average since the last review. Fuel must be well down taking the proportion of the fleet using EVs into account and my insurance dropped marginally this year so it's hard to see any huge increase to point to as far as the taxi cost index is concerned. I know Free Now has recently increased it's commission by 67% on Taxi Saver fares. Given that's optional on two counts (i.e. we don't have to work for Free Now and even if we want to we can opt out of Taxi Saver work) it's a difficult one to quantify, I guess.

It depends who they call, I guess.

As I've opted out from Free Now's Hospitality and Taxi Saver options and I don't cover DAP pickups for Free Now I gave the rates of commission I pay as 10% (Bolt), 14.76% (Uber) and 15% (Free Now) which hasn't increased since the last fare review.
If it doesn't have a roof sign and door stickers it's not a taxi.
