The kick in the goolies is that you'll have to verify your new meter with  the same NSAI who verified the Digitax meters  >:(  Will they get it right the second time?

I wonder if you'd have a claim for lost earnings against either or both the NTA or NSAI.  The NTA insisted you pick a meter from a list and the NSAI insisted you get it verified with them.  One or both of them fukked up big time and now drivers are losing money if they follow the NTA's advice to park up...

How would you verify loss of earnings ?

You could chance your arm and make it up  :P  "I've 2 ex-wives, a girlfriend and a mistress to support.  Why do you think I drive a taxi around the city?  I don't want to be found too easy.  It's a hard life paying for it all  O:-) "

Or show them your accounts for last year and divide by 52 weeks?
Or use the insurance companies' per diem rate as a guide if they still have one?

Not an issue if you don't work rate 3 hours.
If it doesn't have a roof sign and door stickers it's not a taxi.

Not an issue if you don't work rate 3 hours.
The average (Non Chrimbo/NYE/B-H) 168 hour working week includes 72 hours on tariff 1, 88 hours on tariff 2 and just 8 hours on tariff 3.
I would imagine most drivers would be happy enough to be stuck on tariff 2 as the NTA can hardly impose fines on them or legally stop them from working due to NTA/NSAI incompetence.

Meter installer updated the meter, received a phone call from legal metrology to make an appointment, booked in parked behind the applus building in Citywest and a helpful chap reinstalled the seal.
