I'm told Pearse does a good rendition of My Little Armalite. Owen O'Brin would probably be the man to build on apparent separation from the Army Council, IMO.

Watty Im looking at all the votes in both Constituencies .Its my sort of thing .Only logical Conclusion is We are in fopr a term of Multi Elections The Country is ungovernable .Shinners were and are only a Protest Party that vote then went to the Greens SD will not do as well as people think they will .Would not be surprised to see a Right wing anti Immigration candidate elected in every 5 seater and running strong for the Last Seat in all 4 seaters .Shinners have been exposed younger people dont remember their Bombing ,Murdering ,Killing with the same fondness older people do .The Pretend Irishness of speaking in Irish in the Dail to sound more Republican than others when the average Irish person couldnt order a Pint or a Sandwich in Irish ..I recon after the next election no party will have more than 30 Seats .Grand coalition of FF/Labour/Sf ?SDs .But it wont be led by Mary from the Navan Road or Uchtarain FF ? Probably Holly Doyle to be first Femail Taoiseach .Then when second Budget comes up it will implode .

When you look at Irish Politics today where are the Mavricks .The Devs ,Noel Browns ,Costellos .Haughies ,Left stand for absolutely Nothing ,Centerists stand for the Status Quo .Hopefully .Politics today is like Sexuality use to be FF/Fg .Labour .Now its all sorts the LBQT+2 + whatsits Plus whatever your having yourself .

Could FF/Fg amalgamate take a more right of center anty immigration stance to survive .The Lefties have fuck all chance of forming a government .Thank God if he exists for that .Imagine if Boyd Barrett or Murphys vote ever counted for anything or Gerry Hutch with the Casting Vote .in a fucked up world I glad Im 64 not 14 .

Politics is in trouble in the Western world.  Politicians used to have life experience but now they're PPE grads who go straight into party HQ to learn the internal politics.  None of them know the price of bread or ever had an 'overdue letter' from the ESB.  That's why the Right are gaining a foothold - 'normal' politicians are leaving the door open for them to come in with simple answers to complex problems.

Maybe that's why Ennis resonated so well.  He spoke about growing up in his neighbourhood, his family, his kids and wanting to make things better.  SF just opted for the traditional 'we're not FFG' and it backfired on them.

There was a great article in The Irish Times on Sat by Sinead O'Sullivan - Ireland’s politics of strategic ambiguity served us well – until it didn’t (paywall).  Ireland politicians could never give a straight answer to anything but global politics are changing and we (Ireland Inc.) are gonna have to make real decisions with real consequences (e.g. data centres v houses/ESB, America v China, Neutrality v EU military, foreigners and the building industry/hospital docs)

An oldie but a goodie.

Google AI:

Quote
The query refers to the famous political anecdote about Labour politician Peter Mandelson (now Lord Mandelson). During a visit to a fish and chip shop in his Hartlepool constituency in the late 1990s, he allegedly mistook a tub of mushy peas for the avocado dip "guacamole."  The story was widely reported as an example of an out-of-touch, metropolitan politician trying to navigate a traditional northern working-class chippie. Though Mandelson denied the specific incident, the legend permanently stuck to him.

FG Sean Kyne won the Galway West seat beating the fuel protestor on the 11th count.  Labour transfers got him over the line.
