Longest heatwave on record could be matched today - Met Éireann  (Sat)

Met Éireann has said there is a possibility that the longest heatwave on record may be matched today [Sat].  The longest heatwave on record was 14 days from 14-27 August 1976.  However, as it stands, Met Éireann said it was unlikely the record would be broken tomorrow, but it might come close.

End of heatwave confirmed with record still unmatched - Met Éireann

The weather station in Moorepark, Co Cork, has recorded a provisional temperature of 24.9C today, meaning this spell of warm weather has not equalled the longest heatwave on record in Ireland.

How Irish!  A bit like our football team, all the temperature had to do was reach 25C but instead stalled at 24.9!
