M50 traffic

I have a DAP pick up coming up on a Thursday morning at 9.30am, can any sane member give me a heads-up on what the M50 traffic will be like at that time ?

It's pretty heavy all the time but esp bad after 3pm.  Just take it calm and easy and you'll be alright.

Be careful if you pop into McDonalds/CircleK on the edge of the airport grounds.  Taxis try to hang around there and get clamped if left unattended.  Not sure what you do if you're legit going into either so I tend to avoid both.

i've always been a night driver so i was totally ignorant that the m50 is a carpark during the day. i got roped in to a day trip a while back. a neighbour wanted a lift from swords to some where around the red cow hotel. about 4pm it was. i said lovely. 30 mins there. 30 mins back and i'll be home in time for stargate sg-1. bumper to bumper all the way there and all the way back.

Nothing is guaranteed on the M50. One accident and you're gonna be late so leave a little early and have a nap in the airport if you're too early.

Thanks fer your replies Watty, DMG, MFH and Stephen, it seems that I should be OK'ish traffic-wise fer a 9.30am pick-up.

It's fer me Mum as usual, still going strong at 85 on her way home from her hollibops in the USA, and as it's me Mum she still gets the 10% Family Taxi discount !

I'm taking it that the zone/area 18 to Taxi park is still available, can anyone confirm this ?

can she not fly in to cork airport kenner?
does cork airport only accept mickey mouse flights?

You have to pay a tenner to use Zone 18. My permit expired last month and I decided not to renew it. In the year that I held it I only used it 3 times for Uber follow on jobs, all of which came in one week - I had one offer before that week which I couldn't take 'cos I had no permit hence I bought one but have had no such offers since. The total fares for the 3 jobs I completed was slightly under €250 so the tenner effectively added 4% commission... although for two of those jobs the barrier was up and no payment/permit was required.

Just use the short term car park if you're going in to the terminal building to collect your mummy... if you fumble around looking for your bank card as you approach the exit chances are your mummy will hand you hers to settle the €3 parking fee on exit.... and you might want to mention that getting stuck in traffic left you with no time for breakfast so she'll know to stop off at the butchers close to home. If you're not going into the terminal building just meet her at the arrivals drop off... Arrivals door 2 for T1 or on the bend near the pedestrian crossing for T2 works well.

Hope you got yer ma home in one piece ken. My ma had a fall last week out her back garden. Shes 87. 3 stiches in the hand. Shes brand new now though. Cherish them while you can. Off to a funeral tomorrow,  me mates da. Its endless.

It will be Thurs 20th, I reckon i'll just take a chance again on zone 18, it has worked well the past few years. I always go in and up the T2 steps to meet her.

She's on the Charlotte (Carolina) flight to JFK and then a 2nd flight to Dublin.
And Yes AFAIK Cork only gets the shorter flights.

@ Belker - this is the wrong end of the M50 for you.  You won't have to drive by this J12 junction.  You'll be doing J7 --> J1 or similar.

Eight teenagers and one man injured following M50 crash

Nine people have been injured following a two-car collision on the M50 in Dublin.  The incident happened southbound at Junction 12, Firhouse, at 5.30am.  Gardaí say eight male teenagers were in one of the cars, which was driving down the up ramp at Junction 12 when it collided head-on with a car.  They have been brought to different hospitals for treatment and one of them is in a critical condition.  The driver of the other car, a man in his 20s, is being treated for serious injuries.

The section of the M50 from Junction 12 to Junction 11 southbound is closed while a technical examination takes place and local diversions are in place.

There was an ambulance outside one of my elderly neighbours last night.  It sickens me that she might have been denied or delayed treatment while these f*ckers got ahead of her in the queue... 

Looks like 2 little cars as well!  Maybe they were going for the Guinness book of records (8 in 1 car) and a Darwin award (wrong way down motorway ramp)
