Tap A Taxi newest member.
« on: August 19, 2026, 01:10:13 am »
As I'm a horrendously lazy person I was slow to throw my hat in to the ring and switch to Tap A Taxi, as FN had been good to me fer the past 10 years on my FN Ambassador career, but the FN SAVER option changed everything fer me. I REFUSE TO DO JOBS AT 25% COMMISSION and all that is on offer from FN these days are SAVER jobs.

Fair play.... on both counts i.e. being lazy and joining the cooperative society. Ours is a great job for lazy men provided you don't need to earn a lot and by definition I guess lazy men don't do a lot so don't spend a lot... once their Childers have flown the nest and the mortgage is paid, that is.

Good man Belker hope it works out.

You may have to manage your expectations as they will take a while to get some work.

I wonder why they're expanding before they conquer Dublin. The US apps didn't do it that way.

I think there's an element of panic. Hopefully it'll sort itself out and settle with a reasonable market share in due course. In any event lessons will be learnt along the way.

There's a lot of conundrums to solve or navigate in such a venture. At €30/week it should be a no brainer for drivers but with no plan or even threat of closing membership at any prescribed time it's easy for men to adopt a wait and see approach... then you end up with the Chicken and Egg scenario... not enough drivers leads to clients waiting too long and drivers losing money travelling to cover work. While to you and me €1,740 (full year sub including sign up) is fuck all men with big mortgages and childers to feed and educate would need a return on that sort of investment sooner rather than later.. in fact, one migrant worker suggested that's like paying double for his taxi insurance. Also I find some of the newer drivers don't think in terms of covering costs - you or I might say sure that's 10 mins work on an Uber or Free Now ride and think no more of it - a lot will think more in terms of marginal profit and loss... even some who wouldn't be able to spell marginal contribution!

It reminds me of I think it was Action couriers who had a full page Golden pages advert bigger than all their competitors and it had powerful racing motorbikes, trucks a cargo ship and a Jumbo. In reality they had a couple of lads on small motorbikes and a van.

I've no doubt drivers in other cities are looking for an alternative but if there's not enough work they'll quickly become a problem and cancel their subscriptions.

Anyone hazard a guess for the sweet spot target number of TaT drivers in Dublin, so that customer service was  good? Clearly it would depend on amount of work availabe, but I think that if it got to 3000 drivers it would have critical mass, but then again that would only be about 20% of the total number of drivers in Dublin.

Ive never done a saver job or a fixed fare an i still get work off fn... i dont do uber anymore ... .... once yu do 1 saver  you become a target for more .... same wit uber .... the more you comply the more they take .... then wen you stop doing them they punish you by cutting off work.
Thats not a  partnership....

You were all happy enough when you thought you had an advantage .Fools and their Coin easily parted .The Punters want cheapest fares .You are being sold a Tricolour not a Functioning Taxi hailing App .Irish owned Irish Run .Jack and the Fucking Beanstalk Stuff .The Emperor has no new clothes .The Billygoat Gruff is charging you all to cross the Bridge and you were all warned .

Occi Big Dommo Got a Pushbike off the Butcher beside the Chipper when he closed because the Supermarket up the road had a Meat Counter .We use to call Eileen Buckley meat Counter next time were out drinking I will tell you why .Anyway back to the other Bike the one Big Dommo rode .The bottom of the Front Forks were painted white and the Rear bracket was also painted white .So he called the Bike the Minstrel after the 1977 Derby winner who had four white socks .Yeh the Dog was called Plato not after the Greek Philosopher just because he use to lick the dinner plates after the kids got fed .Nothing went to waste in Big Dommos Gaff .His Ma told him there were kids in Africa Starving any time he left food on his plate so he taught Plato to eat the leftovers .

..

Egg before Chicken before Egg before Chicken WHERE IS THE WORK ? You are looking at this all wrong  First get the Work then Sell the App .Unfortunately Im Over Educated and above average Intelligence that is my Burden .Now I will tell you what I would of done and How .I would of Recruited All Drivers FREE no Sign Up costs no Freight .Give every driver Access to the App FREE .Get them to recruit Fares  Get them to pony up a few notes to Advertise on their cars Decals for sale for the Price on Producing Them .QR codes in car to download the Passenger App .Encourage passengers to do it .

Now we have the Passengers and the Cars no waiting for a Taxi if every taxi is signed up and why not its FREE .Then after about 3 months setting Seeds .Drivers who want to remain pay to join anybody not interested gets Disconnected from the App .If people really believed in this they could of got Investors to cover the initial build out offered then small equity in return for investment .You wont sell an app if you dont have the Fares .Cart before the Horse .Halo did it with 4% initial offering in London .

Think what would of been needed a working App .Register on Line A passenger App register on line and every driver with a FREE Option to join .Instead 350 joining fee .That would exclude a lot of People from joining  Pay Per Job would of encouraged lads to work prime times as no increase in Comission based on increase in Tarriffs . Small Quarterly Subscription on top  to Stop the Bandits and pay the staff .

People seem to forget Taxi Apps sell the Passengers back to the Drivers if you have no passengers you have nothing to sell .Aiken Promotions Book the Band before they try sell the tickets . Not sell the tickets and then see if they can get a band to play.
