I did say that easing the geography test was going to be a problem.Some in here said insurance was gonna keep lads off the road.Clearly insurance is not keeping the newbies out.

First sniff off a bigger downturn and we're back getting less than minimum wage.

They paint a rosy picture but don't mention that 63% of drivers who used to work nights don't anymore.  39% of them said personal safety was the main reason.  But the numbers working the 4am-8am shift has stayed steady.

Could one interpret that to mean that drivers don't feel safe working nights but are forced to work the 4-8am shift because of financial hardship?

I don't do it myself but it's the airport shift. Could be just profitable without the messy work.

Traditionally a lot of men liked the early (4-5am) start because it got them a decent few notes before the traffic built up and you got the 40p extra on every job before 8am.... probably not so different these days...  just getting up at that hour isn't for everyone. For the most part the men I knew who done it would be on the high stool by lunchtime and in their leaba by 21:31.

I think Hal does the early shift and it works out well.Problem is you'd have to stay off the drink the night before and that might not agree with a lot of us.

I'd still consider it the night shift.

Although if all that's available are discounted jobs the attraction might be wearing a bit thin.

Now that Uber has stopped paying the premium rate on Sundays I've already moved away from working them.Sunday used to be my favourite day.My missus will be happier I supose.I certainly wouldn't be getting up at 4am to get paid the equivalent of Tariff one in this economy.

Is it only rate 2 they've cut so far?

The offers I've seen today in the north county were all OK...ish... well, same as they were before my break i.e. you'll probably drop a few notes if you have a 3/4 ball.... but, then, you get to know the regular 1pax short ones and wouldn't be too concerned on longer ones, I guess.

It may well have been a one off RC on a Sunday but I'm not touching anything on a Sunday again unless I'm sure it's priced correctly.As yis all know when yer driving back empty a 25 quid airport job turns into half that each way and genuinely not worth the money or more importantly the time taken.I'd rather park up and wait for a short job.

Other drivers will know better whether they've gone after the night time tariff 2 work with the discounts.

My intention was to delete the app when aggregate discount exceeds 3%. Currently it's running at slightly under 1% but has peaked close to 2% and it would only take one or two jobs priced like some of those I've seen reported by drivers working the city and/or the airport to tip the balance.

However, in the real world the only alternative might be Free Now's 25% commission so I might have to rethink that... but I did get a couple of 15% jobs from Free Now today and a couple from Bolt @ 10% and I'm gonna join TaT tomorrow so I'll at least try all the alternatives first.
