It is “not possible” to apply a 9% VAT rate to home heating oil under the VAT Directive, Tánaiste Simon Harris has said.
In written answers to the Dáil, the Fine Gael Minister said the VAT rating of goods and services is “subject to EU VAT law, with which Irish VAT law is obliged to comply.”
The remarks came in response to questions from Independent Ireland TD Ken O’Flynn and Labour TD Ged Nash, who both asked about cutting the rate on kerosene from 13.5% to 9%, in line with the temporary rate applied to domestic gas and electricity.
Now like the early School Leaver says its European Law .So imagine the reaction of Revenue when Dickie Boyd Barrett sends them a letter complaining that some taxi drivers have not registered for VAT because they dont want to .Nobody mentioned it for years until Free Now and Drivers started making an issue out of it ?
