UBER new boss
« on: August 28, 2017, 09:42:52 am »
http://www.independent.ie/business/technology/uber-picks-expedias-dara-khosrowshahi-as-new-ceo-36075150.html   .This bloke likes to grow his business by buying out existing players I wonder if he might consider buying Lynk and NRC to gain customers in Ireland then take on Mytaxi simply by offering full fares and PUC to drivers. Should see Mytaxi losing their drivers and customers to UBER especially with the superior software that both drivers and passengers would appreciate .

At least with the new requirement for lobbyist to register themselves when approaching ministers we'll be able to see who is doing what.Apparently it's gonna be copied by other countries as the new standard.

They all want rideshare its just UBER are up front about it .If rideshare was allowed EVERY dispatcher would drop us and use rent a mom or student drivers .In Ireland the Minister has at last made his mind up the letter was in his intray for nearly two years and local councillors were even lobbying for it .I still think he only put his foot down because the FG Junior minister was mouthing off about incentives for rural publicans and Ross wanted to let him know who the Senior man at transport was .

IF UBER were to decide to have another go at Irelands taxi fleet then buying Lynk /Xpert and NRC would give them the leverage to take on Mytaxi .If they done the right deal with drivers then My taxi would have serious competition and commission might come down .In fact I dont know why the three big Irish companies dont get togeather under one banner and take on My taxi .

The moment is right both passengers and drivers are fed up with the poor app quality of Mytaxi .

To be fair, Daimler makes no secret of it's interest in developing rideshare. In fact, one of it's brand CEOs coined the phrase Airbnb on wheels.

Quote
Among Khosrowshahi's first tasks at Uber would be filling a slew of executive vacancies, including those of chief financial officer, chief operating officer and general counsel.

I guess Gary Bramall (Hail0/mytaxi Chief Marketing Officer who describes himself as an Uber fanatic) is busy typing his Curriculum Vitae.
If it doesn't have a roof sign and door stickers it's not a taxi.

The only CVs of concern to drivers are constant velocity joints (inner and outer).

On the face of it one would say highly unlikely given Hail0's global track record of failure under his stewardship. However, Hail0 did blame it's inability to compete with Uber for it's US failure which might suggest he has some knowledge of Uber's US marketing machine. Publicly describing himself as an Uber fanatic while working for one of it's competitors has to count for something... could be an internship in the marketing dept with his name on it?

So following your logic and getting lost along the way .Most fat middle aged porter bellied blokes who wear Tottenham Hotspurs jersies do so in the belief that possibly one day Mr Tottenham will call them up and give them a game .

Not exactly... but to extrapolate your analogy, if the Manchester United manager were to describe himself as a Tottenham Hotspur fanatic when commenting on his own team's performance/chances one would expect his name to be in the frame should Tottenham Hotspur need a new Manager or Assistant Manager shortly thereafter.

Ah I see so you take the job you dont want in the hope that you can get the job you do want by taking the job you dont want and telling your employer you dont want the job they gave you but you do want the other job ...

Almost. Roy Keane playing for Celtic at the end of his playing career might be a better example from the world of soccer.
