Irish Football is shite
« on: September 06, 2017, 08:05:40 AM »
Another Glorious failure by the Boyz in Green .Until young lads looking for a career in Football realize that there are other top leagues outside of the Premiership  Irish football will always be third rate .There are only 10 Irish Players in Premiership First teams and none playing in any of the Top teams .Always wondered why young players dont try to sign for German or Spanish or Dutch Clubs they seem to give up if they cant get signed by UK clubs .

Should have posted this on Sunday morning. They played ok last night but public expectations are ridiculously high c/o the media. Heart and passion don't guarantee success. In fairness, they are an average group of players managed by a cold and clinical man with a journeyman in the background. What do people want? The glory days are gone...get over it and get behind Norn Iron.

Dunphy questioning Keane's role within the squad now. Why did he not pose the question before? Without Eamonn the RTE studio would be as dead as Dodo but he's at it again. Duff, Brady and that android, Sadlier, should be the ones asked what their roles are.

We punch above our weight in most sports .We do ok at rugby with only a few posh boys playing it at school we are going to become a Test Cricket nation .Our Golfers are probably the best in the World if you consider how many majors they have won against how few play at the top level and at the same time the GAA has first call on most of the best Athletes .

The FAI are a joke Delaney should be building bridges for young Irish to get signed with European teams or else reduce the League of Ireland to 8 teams to increase the standard of players.

We excel at boxing considering our population and our ancestors forced to leave our shores prove it. 5 of the British amateurs in the Worlds had Irish surnames...McCormack, Joyce etc.
The GAA might get the cream in rural areas but I disagree they do in cities. The eye has been on the Dubs recently but people forget the lean yrs from '95 to 2011 when the Hill on tour was a paltry few, and when did we win the hurling last? Like the Dub footballers, every now and then a few great players appear on the scene just as they did in Charlton's era.

The typically middle-class pursuits of golf(not a sport) and Rugger always had the filter schools at primary level ensuring later success. However, great to see a few decent ballers from the Nth inner-city of Dublin such as Hoolohan, Kendrick and Brady getting their moment in the sun. Not so long ago these lads would have been lost to boxing and martial arts...so there's hope. It has to start at knee-high level.
The Dubs realised that back in the early noughties when the fans were hurling bottles of piss at the team as they left the field after another hammering.

I find Kenny Cunningham something akin to that....it's like he he just fell out of a "How to...play football" annual with his technical mumbo jumbo!!

L.o.I. needs restructuring. Too many teams in Dublin. If it was one team per county ala GAA and MLS financial model , who knows.....

The big Derby Longford Town V Athlone mouthwatering prospect .4 Dublin teams and you have to live in the catchment area and one each from the other three provences and a development side .A lot of lads playing Leinster Senior might of made it had they gotten the opportunity .No money in LOI so a lot of players stay with their local Club .

We adopted the long ball hit and hope garbage precisely to bypass glenn whelan in the center of the park and prevent him from touching the ball. Fucking hopeless excuse for a player.
