The Emperor Leo was asked in the Dail this morning about the lack of Grants for drive your own motor for disabled drivers .Seems like the Grant money and the oversight body have been disolved for years .I wonder will the Kind Hearted Doctor tell invalids there are plenty of WATs available so they dont need their own vehicle .Is there another agenda at play with issuing Thousands of Crypmobile license's ?

There's no restriction on the issue of WA plates. The problem (if it's a problem) is that nobody wants them - e.g. there were only 2 WA plates issued through the entire month of January. Whether that's because the available workforce is simply over-qualified for such vocations or because the investment required is too high is largely a matter of speculation, I guess.

Rule Change in the Kingdom of Great Britain and Northren Eire .Councils use to give out the Mobility Grants and you could exchange your Crypmobile every 3 years they dont seem to be offering automatic updates to Crypmobiles any more then since Brexit the part worn Crypmobile now has added import taxes into this future Socialist Republic .The Big kick in the preverbal nut sack will come when Achmed and Mohammed have to renew their motor and cannot source part worn Crypmobiles .If Eamo the Saviour has hois way and no more Focil fuel motors for sale after 2030 50K plus for a Battery operated Crypmobile will see an exodus from the trade .

Minister Ryan appears to have little interest in, and less understanding of, the taxi trade. He has chosen to direct millions of euros in grants at saloon plate holders, the majority of whom - being the wrong side of 50 - are happy to trouser his money and work a bit less or switch from nights to days.

Having said that, we do have an unfortunate habit of assuming that those in authority are as thick as their actions make them seem. I guess it's possible that the Minister is engaged in a job creation scheme i.e. creating a crisis for himself (or his successor) to solve.

Well done Ermy, you've managed a portmanteau of two bottomless pits 1. Cryptocurrency 2. Disabled  mobility vans, hence CRYPMOBILE. Sure who would want to invest in either? 8)

Good point, MfH. I forgot the grant scheme opens in January hence no vans materialise until the formalities are completed thereafter.

I had an idle thought to upgrade my wanked out French panel van, looking at a late 171 or 172 Caddy, 7 seats, auto wat. Got a price of €37k before the €4k grant, €33k net on the road for 9.5 years.

Fuk and that the two words that came to mind. Still around 4.5 years left on my current wanked out French panel van and shall he staying that way too.

You'd wonder if the WAV grant got axed would the prices start coming down.Just like the leccy vehicles the prices are being propped up buy government money.

With 20% of the fleet now wheelchair accessible cutting back on the grants might be a runner in a few years

give it a Few years and no grants and All PSVs must be accessable .rEmember the Review stated that a TAXI PLATE HAD NO VALUE .If the Vehicle comes with the Licence as they do with WAVs then Saloon Licences will morph into WATS over time .

It was surprising that the wheel chair grants were used up in February this year, I think it was at least September that the grant money was used up last year. its a buyer market though, them garages must be selling hardly an wheelchair vehicles as the prices are gone up so much and now that the grant money is gone for the year.
