There is a rumor doing the rounds that the free 10 minutes car park time at the airport is to be discontinued .Cannot confirm if this is true yet .

As far as I know, you can. Process directly to the exit, insert ticket and then card, if required

Erm ya was right..even a broken clock is correct twice a day...Never got anyone from the car park anyway so no loss.Much easier to drive along where the Kesh lads park at T1.

Dublin Airport Update: Due to the abuse of parking privileges at Dublin airport short term carparks, the DAA have removed the free pick up time for Taxi drivers.

Normal car parking fees will now apply. When using the car parks please ensure that you are parked in a designated spot and not obstructing traffic.

It is Illegal for Taxis to Pick up on any Airport Roads even if this is a prearranged collection.

Try this on for size .This has been engineered to get taxies excluded ,next step the dispatchers now go to the competition authority and protest that they are excluded by means of a minimum 3 euro charge from competing for work with the kesh .Although the keshies pay a fee they do not pay for access to the work only as they also recieve free parking and canteen and toilet facilities for their fees .These extra services confirm an unfair trading advantage on kesh members over other licenced taxies if the competition authority rule against the DAA then they might open the port up to all drivers on a PPJ .This looks like a very clever move by somebody possibly even the DAA to get the competition authority to free them up to charge per job or by dispatchers to get full access for their aligned drivers ......Watch this unfold .

How were lads abusing the system anyway?

I was in Kerry airport a few weeks back, you have to enter the small car-park to get next to the terminal, I was given a ticket with 15 minutes free waiting time, with no sign of my customer coming out I left after 13 minutes and then re-entered with a new ticket.

So pick up and luggage charges are done away with at Dublin airport so DAA can introduce drop off charges....that will be added to the fare anyway....the public and the NTA will love that!!
