You would have had to if it stayed in situ....isn't the better half of your marriage PAYE? Those who didn't pay could not have soldt sell their houses without stumping up, plus whatever extras they invented. Same applies to the LPT.

I don't think there was any provision to deduct it under PAYE. If there was there would also be a requirement to pay to get tax clearance. In any event, I would have paid up in the end, once someone was sent to prison for not paying. Funny thing is I wasn't opposed to the charge, there's a need to broaden the tax base and consumption based fees make sense.

People Before Profit demanded that there be a sealing on the local property tax So their parents and grandparents wouldnt have to spend to much of their pensions on the tax or god forbid not pay it and it be taken out of their cold dead hands before the grandkids got it .PAYE workers pay the full % of the value while the rich only have to pay up to the sealing figure .Mick O leary paying the same as a run of the mill 5 bedroom in Foxrock for his Palatial mansion in down town mullingar

To be fair, the best thing about Mullingar is the road out of it. Reminds me of the young lad taking a ferry trip to Hollyhead one day because the young one he was with had never been on one so having a few hours to kill before the return journey he looked up the top ten things to do in Hollyhead, number one was take a day trip to Dublin!
