An example to all (potential) immigrants, I guess. The land of opportunity awaits.
If it doesn't have a roof sign and door stickers it's not a taxi.

Badge (K6740) lapsed 24/07/17 - no record of a plate so he coulda got away with renting for 5 years without TC2 I guess.

But he'd need a TC2 to renew the licence, unless he passed a fake one off on the Gardai. TC2 came in in 2004, the year I bought Trigger's Brush. I remember 'cos I had to pay in excess of €1,300 for one, having neglected to pay me tax bills for the previous 5/6 years.

Nothing to do with the OP.....But you can be tax cleared if you're accounts aren't accurate?. Seperately I know renters who had no tax clearance for years too.Dunno how they did it.Maybe with the help of an MPO? But you can buy anything forged as we've all heard in the car.Apparently the going rate for an insurance policy and disc is 150.A lot cheaper than actual insurance.

You're right, once you make a declaration and payment you'll get tax clearance regardless of what you declare/pay.

A while back Watty opined that a crash would put him out of business despite having indemnified himself by purchasing "insurance". Maybe an amateur philosopher can explain what "actual insurance" is? In reality, we are only paying for a worthless chit whether we opt to give an insurance company thousands of euros or a gangster a ton and a half.

Chap I know, from another land, living here for yrs who left the taxi biz in Dublin in 2012 found  out he allegedly owed them a considerable amount by virtue of their own error. Turned out he was issued a clearance cert "automatically" for 3 of the 5 yrs he was driving in Dublin. The clerical mistake was only noticed after he handed in his marriage cert.

After my 2004 payment I used to apply for a TC2 every year without paying but I always submitted a return on time. It took 2-3 years non payment for cert to be refused until 2014/15 when it seemed to tighten up. Also, they never applied any surcharge/interest for late payments not even for me big settlement in 2004.

I have an L badge and that was issued in 2009, so I reckon a K badge would be 2008 ??
