An example might help. Let's consider a €100 each way double with one winner and one placed horse, both priced at 16/1 with place terms of 1/4 odds.

The each way (default) method would return €2,500 - win and place elements are two separate doubles. The win double loses so returns €0 and the place double wins - winnings from the first placed horse, €500 (€100@4/1), goes on to the second giving the return (€500 @ 4/1).

The each way all each way method (must be written on docket) would return €5,500 - after each leg (race) any returns are divided equally as an each way bet on the next leg. So, if the first horse is placed the win portion of that leg has lost but the place portion returns €500 (€100 @ 4/1) which is divided equally on the second horse i.e. €250 EW. Hence, if the second horse wins the win portion returns €4,250 (€250 @ 16/1) and the place portion returns €1,250 (€250 @ 4/1) giving a total return of €5,500.

If both horses were placed the return would be the same using the normal "each way" method i.e. €2,500 but would be lower using the "each way all each way" method i.e. €1,250 (€250 @ 4/1).

Place terms vary depending on the number of runners and whether the race is a handicap or not but are generally 1/4 or 1/5 of the win price for horse racing. Odds vary from firm to firm until the opening show is broadcast from the course, usually c.20 mins before the off. Most bookmakers offer guaranteed odds so it always makes sense to take the price on offer.

Might try a Cheltenham tipster competition for next week's festival. MMW has done well in previous years on Roy's so, if we do and he participates, just follow what he tips. Ken landed one or two? decent placepots too... I even got a bottle of 10YO out of him!

I did hear that last year's winner in the Gold Cup(if that's what it is called) isn't running, it has a hairline fracture

Anybody interested in picking 6 horses for cheltenham Look for value on horses that might get placed and hava a chance of winning ,eg fav in the champion is short second fav is dodgy so value in one of the outsiders to place .Bet 1 euroech way heinz cost 114 Euro and have a 3 euro e/w accum  6 of us pick one horse each and pay a score .If your interested sign up .

John M

Forget the 'EW Heinz', that's only a Bookies benifit, as is the 'EW Canadian', but as we only have 3 players and with Mise with only One selection (As named), it might be better to play with 5 selections giving yourself and Rats Two Aunty Post selections each.

Firstly drop the Doubles, you will never get a big return off Doubles, but only a pittance return of your stake.
Secondly drop the EW Quin because that is already covered in the EW Accum.

The bet should be 'IMO' (5 selections),
10 x 4Euro EW Trebles, 5 x 3Euro EW Quads
And a Fiver EW Accer.

I'll take Bleu Et Rouge in the Coral cup on Wednesday.

Stake is 120Euro, That's 'Forty' a Boy.
I'm In with my above named selection.

you would be sisk as a pig if we got two 20/1winners and fuck all else .Nobody seems interested so we just go our own way .Ill include a bit extra on my bet to cover the Rodents promised subscription in the original idea .Looks like somebody else copped on to Wicklow Brave no more 20/1 available wouldnt be surprised if he goes off second fav.

That'd cost €120 - Without reading back through the thread I think the total stake was to be €10 or €20 a man.

Why not 4 selections
6 * €5 win doubles
4 * €1.50 EW Trebles
4 * €1.50 EW all EW Trebles
1 * €1.50 EW Accumulator
1 * €1.50 EW all EW Accumulator
€60.00
