Cabra is the most sought after area in which to live in Dublin. I got it tits up...Tallaght is about as popular as oral sex in the catatonic ward.

Tallaght is alright if you work out there.Just like Blanch etc.Trying to commute from those places is the tough part.Enjoy it for now Ll and get ready for the next crash then you can hopefully set up base where ya want for reasonable money.

Been sampling the pubs around Phibsborough and Stoneybatter and the prices of the pints are eye watering.Gentrification is feckin expensive.

Applus+ are the problem. They couldn't organise a round of drinks in a bar. LMS need to find a firm that can do the job. SGS could manage perfectly well back when we had 20,000 more drivers.

I was talking with a colleague/competitor yesterday who spent six and a half hours queuing to get a Tetas meter programmed.

Fair play to mytaxi. Dubby organised an awareness campaign on Roys a few years back which I was proud to support.
If it doesn't have a roof sign and door stickers it's not a taxi.

It seems Roy / IrishTaxi.org is still alive.  (I had his blog in my rss reader and saw his most recent post)

http://irishtaxi.org/national-transport-authority-are-back-to-bad-old-days/

Quote
<snip>
The NTA are threatening that from tomorrow any Taxi driver who doesn’t have their meter reprogrammed to the new higher tariff and resealed by the Legal Metrology Service will be subject to a fine of up to €250.

This is despite the NTA knowing that many Meter installers do not have the relevant programme and that the Legal Metrology Service have stopped taking appointments as they are booked out.

1000’s of Drivers ringing the NTA to explain their situation are being told that their phone call is being logged and recorded and that should they be found to be operating a meter offering the lower fare they will be fined as per the note above.

What do youse think?  Rank sh1te or a grain of truth?  Anybody work today and see any inspectors around?

As luck would have it, I'm not working at the moment because of a family member ending up in hospital.  Also, the software for my meter won't be available until Sat.  I was thinking about maybe heading out on Sat and Sunday.  Getting cabin fever  :o  I'd risk a €60 fine but €250....

(Edit: I know the title is not 100% accurate but it gets the gist across.  Mods can change it if they

This is the same Roy who advertises a fixed fare from Baldoyle to the Airport of 22 euro. From the furthest reaches of Baldoyle to the Airport it is only 20 euro including pickup on the night rate. When I rang Applus yesterday I had no problem getting an appointment. As usual he is full of crap.

Fair play to mytaxi. Dubby organised an awareness campaign on Roys a few years back which I was proud to support.

We are/can be the voice of reason some times, as most of us are old and have been tru de Ringer a few times.

I had a man in the cab last Christmas, I picked him up on the southside about 2am 'well steamed' and he gave a southside address.
Along the way he changed his mind and asked to go northside 'To see his daughter'. He is about 45 and along the way he tells me of how much he loves/adores his 7 year old daughter and how much he hates his ex-wife and her new partner. I do as I am required by law to do and drive him toward his destination. About 1KM from the destination I pull in off the street and turn on the man saying; "Look here, I'm gonna break it down fer you, Firstly you are not a prisoner in my cab, you are free to leave at any time and I am required by law to take you wherever you wish, But if you turn up at your ex-wifes/daughters home at 2am in the morning 'Drunk outta your head' then your ex-wife will call the Gardai, your daughter will get scared out of her mind when the Guards arrive with Sirens blazing, your ex-wife will tell her it's all Daddy's fault which to be fair is true AND YOU WILL NEVER SEE HER AGAIN ! THINK ABOUT IT ?"

He does think about it and his loud arrogant outbursting of earlier now retreats to a subtle; "Thanks Mr Taximan, take me home so".

A bit of common sense .They will be handing out no fines just prodding most of you fucktards who even though most updates were available since November didnt bother your bollox getting it done .

Seriously?

You don't believe some drivers may be law abiding and taking the regulatory authority at their word will not work if they don't comply... despite it being impossible for them to do so?

A lot of meters were not capable of being updated prior to the February deadline you cannot just call them fucktards because some meters were programable.

Unless and until the NTA update their website to extend the deadline for those unable to have their meter sealed, they are forcing drivers off the road who are off the road through NO fault of their own.

The only fucktard here is you, in one post telling drivers to ignore the NTA and risk a fine and in another calling them fusktards.

Muppet!
