Getting old is compulsory whilst growing up is voluntary.

Maybe the NTA will help them circumnavigate the high insurance cost,obviously the entrance exam will be a "no need to worry about that!" with a bit of a nod.

They better start making some new ranks around town.While the Luas was being built they deleted a lot of rank space.The metro won't be built for another 10 years.

If they want to succeed all they have to do is make the geography section of the entry test easier/more predictable. With sat nav and, given that punters generally know the way, that knowledge could be considered to be a waste of brainpower....

Picked up a bloke and three birds from the Venue last night, the bloke asks do I know where xxx road is in Neilstown. As he's answered the question in the question, I say of course I do bud, I'm a bleedin' taximan and he says fair play, I got one of dem blax a few weeks ago and he hadn't a fukkin clue, couldn't even understand a fukkin word while I trying to put him wide, fukkin joke it is... so after driving across the M50 onto the N4 I take the Liffey Valley exit and at the first roundabout ask am I going straight through here bud? Yeah, says he, directing me through each subsequent turn to get the first bird home... then after an intricate set of directions over roads I've never seen before to a housing scheme somewhere around Palmerstown that I never knew existed bird number two flies the nest... Then he says, just over to Boomers now and his bird politely asks if I know Boomers, he answers for me saying of course he knows where Boomers is, he's a bleedin' taxman... I confirm his response and we both have a playful laugh at her expense - naturally I neglected to clarify that despite having a vague idea of where Boomers is, at this point, I hadn't a fucking clue where I was never mind how to get there... back to straight through here bud? prompting him to give turn by turn directions before settling up and having another little moan about dem blax not having a fucking clue...

If it doesn't have a roof sign and door stickers it's not a taxi.

I know this is obvious but 1600 new lads over the next five years should bring us back to oversupply a lot faster than lads realise.Ya just know there's some poor bastard signing off on a 181 superb as we type.We're being set up for a huge fall.

And because the unions have no visible presence outside of the kesh we're/yous gonna get trampled on again.

Inanyways....it says in the article that not all taxi drivers work certain hours,how does yer wan know that any of the 1600 will work any differently!!

@MFH,
Let as many sign off on new cars as possible,keeping cost low or to zero is the only way one will survive in this biz and keep the car light as one won't have to carry around a wobnly stool and rope.

I'm not usually this gloomy but 1600 extra drivers is a multiple of 4 times the ammount of drivers that have been leaving the industry.Theres no way I could put 35k back into this industry.Fuk that.

Joe Heron said 20,000 drivers left 'cos they found better jobs...

As I posted cheap 6 or 7 year old petrol buy trade for cash under 4 grand .A lot of drivers are blinded by the 9 year rule before it they would consider a 6 or 7 year old car as ideal for the job it still is .If I had 35K in bronze I would pay it off the mortgage secure the roof over your head .if Brexit goes shit shaped we will be back in serious recession within 5 years dont need any loans to drag you under

No mention that you can't get your own saloon plate either. Minimum 5k for insurance, before you even purchase a vehicle.

All over Facebuke trying to get housewives to drive taxis in their spare time, too. Of course, they'd have no interest in rideshare if the mean and nasty people in Uber successfully lobbied for it's introduction.
If it doesn't have a roof sign and door stickers it's not a taxi.
