Should Dublin Taximen be Armed?
« on: February 26, 2018, 01:28:32 am »
Just heard a report on the wireless of yet another shooting up above in Dublin. As I work the northside suburbs (where the latest shooting took place) it got me to wondering how many of my mytaxi clients could be targets for assassination or, indeed, carrying firearms. Taximen are obvious candidates for getting in the way of a bullet or even taking a bullet from some lad who's too spaced out to know what he's doing.

The halfwitted President of the Yewknighted States of America has suggested that teachers should be armed over there* so how about arming taximen who work up above in Dublin?

* the same halfwit promised that greater attention would be paid to the mental health of citizens purchasing high powered weapons such as AK47s. That seems pretty simple - if you want to buy an AK47 you're a lunatic... so you can't?

Just don't work the Northside. Honestly, very little trouble happens on the southside, never had an ounce of trouble from any punter going south.

I haven't encountered any serious issues working the northside, I was just letting my mind wander... although I think one of our colleagues/competitors was caught in the crossfire in Finglas a while back.

Anywaysanall, gang warfare isn't restricted to the northside, there have been plenty of shootings both sides of the Liffey. In fact the greatest concentration is probably in the city centre itself. I have noticed that I seem to carrying more punters that I'd suspect to be criminals since we got the PUC back from mytaxi and I increased my reliance on it.

Taximen carrying guns (sometimes overtly) is quite common in other jurisdictions with high rates of gang related crime e.g. Moscow, New York, etc...

Yis must all be afraid of Moatview now, I got three jobs out of it tonight (Mon) - first around 9pm and the street where the shooting took place was awash with little kids playing out
