Couldn't get a cab home from the bar last night despite leaving early - Mr. Woo was still open. Mrs Catcher had to collect me or the Chow Mein woulda had to go straight in the freezer. Mrs Catcher was on Facebook an hour or so back, reckons the roads around Dublin are still in shit, grand here though.

Main roads are fine but anything off those are hit and miss.Had to help a taxi get out of Cabra earlier.Bring a shovel if you are working lads and Halpos learn how to disable the traction control if yours doesn't have a button for it.Lots of folks walking in the middle of the road not giving a shite.

Would deffo bring a shovel,wear me boots(shite for driving though)
I find using the B when on a hill or on a slippery surface very useful,gives a bit of traction and it feels like you're in a higher gear...of course you're still watching out for the other heroes!!

I have a button for disabling traction control, what does it do in layman's terms? Pressed it on Tuesday but seemed to slide around the little roundabouts in the estates more with it pressed i.e. traction control disabled & orange light on dash. When not pressed it seems to disable itself from time to time i.e the orange light flashes every now and again on slippery roads.

Priuses are great but mine is shite in the snow.The traction control is far too aggressive which means any sort of slippage ends up leaving ya stuck.Maybe summer tyres are partly to blame.My old Primera was much better in this weather.I think Toyota fixed it in later versions.

I should clarify a bit generally it's good to have it on but on the hybrid it's there to protect the car from hurting itself as the leccy motors can spin almost instantly at full torque.So if yer flooring it all the time it could damage the car.Problem is it cuts power to the wheels in situations that ya might otherwise be able to power yer way out of.Kinda frustrating as you can lose momentum and get stuck.

Mine's not a Prius. It's a MKII Octy, a real man's car with gears anall! Just I've no idea when or why I should disable traction control, them things didn't exist when I took the test... a bag of cat litter is handy though if you get stuck in a wheelspin situation.

It's not disabling itself...it's working,but can activate more frequently in slippery conditions...hence the flashing icon.

@MFH,
I found in my previous Prius(by accident) that using the B in snowy conditions was a great help,even the short drives over the last few day in my current ride were helped using it,traction control doesn't activate as much...i'm just talking about using it when necessary not all the time.

Yeah its deffo a help....even if you go over a shore in wet conditions,the traction control tends to activate,i generally use the B to help control the car...and if some gobshite in front of you breaks for some unknown reason,it's great for slowing the car a little quicker than just stomping on the brake pedal...but that helps aswell of course!!

Looting reported in Tallaght, too. Apparently the local Lidl was cleaned out.
