Good Friday?
« on: March 29, 2018, 01:48:59 am »
Just wondering will everyone hit the pubs seeing that they are open for the first time this year or will it be a damp squib?

It's a hard one to call, I really have no idea of which it will be.
I'v talked to a few bar staff in the cab about it and there only guessing too.

I'v always worked Good Friday, back in the day it was lucrative fer Bootleg work,
but in recent years the Taxi trade has been very good with only about 10% of
the fleet out on duty.

Working myself. Used to be a great night back in the good old days when the pubs were (officially) closed. I'd expect this year to be busy enough, if messy, assuming a certain novelty value will attach to pubs operating legally.

I remember a genuine court report in one of the provincials years ago. The judge asks the publican if he was open after hours as alleged. Don't you know I was, weren't you there yourself your honour...

I was off Thursday, Sunday and Monday. Friday was nothing to write home about, finished at 01:34 myself. Used to be a great night back in the good old days when the pubs were officially closed.

Sunday night was only OK'ish too, with the Good Friday opening thrown in to the equation,
the Easter bank holiday weekend turned in to a Four night gig instead of the usual bank holiday
3 night gig.
Thursday night and Sunday night were my best Two nights, but like Rats said,
nothing to write home about !

Mondays (or Tuesdays of a bank holiday weekend) are often good as the lads who worked crazy hours over the weekend are all nigga rich so don't bother working. Still, 5 hours is an extremely long shift for me, the like of which I'd usually only attempt of a Friday or Saturday night.

I'd be with you on that. Daywork,( by the looks of the drivers) is only for blokes with a pension in the back pocket, and an ugly bird. 8)
