Three taken to hospital after four car collision involving Garda car on Dublin's South Quays

Update 16.53pm: Three people have been taken to hospital after a serious crash on the South Quays in Dublin.

A large section of the route is still closed to traffic, after four vehicles were involved in the collision this afternoon.  It has emerged that a Garda car was one of four vehicles involved in the collision.  Chris Jones from AA Roadwatch says car users are being warned to avoid the area.  Mr Jones said gardaĆ­ are directing motorists and the College Green traffic ban heading outbound has been lifted temporarily.

Earlier: Part of Dublin's South Quays closed after crash

A large section of the South Quays in Dublin has been closed to traffic after a serious crash.  Pictures appear to show a taxi, car and truck involved in the collision at Wellington Quay, close to Parliament Street.  AA Roadwatch reports that the South Quays are now closed between Burgh Quay and Grattan Bridge due to the collision.  Motorists are being advised to avoid the area altogether as traffic is heavy.

That taxi driver is really unfortunate.I remember seeing the aftermath of him T boning a van on Tara street a few years ago.What were the cops doing chasing a car on the quays?.Tourists everywhere and no space for error.City blocked up for hours today.They should put more of them on mountain bikes..

Newspapers are saying some stressed out law student was crashing into cars around the city before he hit the garda car on the quays.  After that it was a game of dominos, garda car hit the taxi who hit the lorry...

I guess the law student will get some practical experience of the law now that he'll sued by many motorists.
