North;
One young lady that I collected one Sunday morning on College road in Cork,
coming out from a house party from the night before. She was a very tall
pretty blonde girl with a deep country accent about thirty'ish, not heavy
or not thin, She was great craic even at 9am in the morning after being
out the whole night before. I asked her where she was from and she said;
"She was from North Tipp", so that explained the country accent,
she was a really nice person and the chat was plentiful in the cab,
she said she had only a Tenner on her and asked would that get her to her
hotel on the Northside, I turned off the meter immediately and said to her;
"Of course it will, my dear". She went on to say; "I have only a Tenner, but it
was a choice of getting fags and doing 'The walk of Shame' or getting a Taxi home".
Not fully understanding , I asked her; "What is the Walk of Shame ?".
She told me in her best North Tipp accent; "Its when your walking home
through town the next morning in last nights clothes and there all looking
at ya and thinking 'Jeez, look at dat ol Yolk after been ridden' !' "
That girl made me laugh so heartily with her wit and honesty that I gave her
a free copy of my last book and she gave me a free hug and a kiss on the cheek.
North Tipperary (Riding) is part of the Mid-West region and is termed as

South;
Another young man that I collected from a housing estate in
Ballincollig later that same morning at about 10am.
It started with me getting a wrong address and ringing a young lady
for directions to her home, she gave me the correct directions and hung up,
so when I arrived at her door I rang a second time to tell her I was outside,
she opened the front door in her dressing gown and waved at me.
A few minutes later a young man emerged from the house, he was talking on
his phone, but managed to tell me; "Grange please".
So I headed out along the Link road, Yer man hangs up on his call and says to me;
"Where the Fukc are we ?", with a sense of panic in his voice.
I told him; "Relax, we are Ten minutes away from Grange".
He thought he was out in the deep country and his recollections of the previous
night were poor. He went on to say; "Look this is not what it seems".
I replied; "Look Buddo, I know exactly what It is and it don't bother me either way".
He said; "Fair enough" and we had a good old chat, he told me he was from
South Tipp, which I would not have guessed because he had almost No accent.
I got on to telling him of his neighbour whom I had collected an hour previous
and told him of her 'Walk of Shame' comment and he says to me;
"Yea, but its different fer de lads, we be walking through town in the morning,
swaggering our hips 'Got de Ryde' style and thinking 'Im the all-time Stud' ! ".
We went up to Grange to collect his heavily pregnant sister, a lovely girl expecting
her First in Two weeks time, she glowed like an 'Angel'.
From there we headed for Wellington road to collect his car, with him giving
his sister a full blow by blow account of his sexual antics from the night before,
on parting he told me to be sure and put me in your next book as
the 'Hound Dog from South Tipp'.
