think this issue came up before on Roys place, and the answer was no. i poster said he was hauled in by the British cops and told he must cover up his decals if he wanted to continue driving. i might be wrong, but that is as far as i can remember

Yes and No and No and yes .If you pick up a fare in the Republic and drive North of the Border you and your passenger are insured .So Yes you are insured but this concession does not apply to other parts of the UK you re not insured as a taxi .But if you mean can you go on holidays or visit the Uk in your car and be insured then Yes but you will need to remove your roofie and remove or cover your door decals .Lad in crumlin village will cover them in vinal that you can remove cheaper than removing and replacing the decals .

Different issues, DM. You are insured to drive in the UK but (strictly speaking) you cannot have the work Taxi displayed on the exterior of your vehicle - similar to here but you often see Dad's Taxi or Mum's Taxi stickers on private cars that are overlooked.

You should, however, read the small print on your policy document. You'll probably find that there's a limit on the amount of time you can spend outside the State and retain cover without informing the insurer. Similarly, extras like windscreen cover, breakdown assistance, etc may not apply.

General agreement between Derry and Donegal...cops ignore it on both sides as most of what is happening is commerce. Many cabbies cross over to fill up with pax....some collect pax on wrong side but it is ignored. English transport police take no prisoners...ask any Irish trucker.

Similar to the general agreement up above in Dublin where cops turn a blind eye to all contraventions of road traffic regulation.

Did yis never watch the irish boder security called stop. search. They are always doiing people for not paying the VRT, or you will see the customs dipping the tanks to see what colour fuel is being used,so they dont turn a,blind eye

Those shows are only promo pieces.  They're never gonna show the ones that got away - only the ones they catch!

That's nothing to do with road traffic regulation. I stumbled across an episode of this shite on one of the English channels a while back... some halfwitted culchie in the sorting office giggling like a 7 year old girl while processing an envelope that might contain pornography... and we wonder why the rest of the world thinks we're harmless little idiots!
