And Rats claims it's a quiet place
« on: July 06, 2018, 04:24:39 am »
https://m.independent.ie/irish-news/crime/armed-garda-patrolling-seaside-town-as-vicious-turf-war-erupts-37085554.html

Armed gardai are patrolling a seaside town as a vicious feud threatens to spiral out of control after a man was left fighting for his life when he was stabbed four times.

Members of the force’s Armed Support Unit (ASU) have been present in Balbriggan in recent days because of fears that the mob which has taken over the drugs patch once controlled by jailed gang boss Cornelius Price will be targeted.

The simmering tensions relate to a shocking attack that happened at 4am on Sunday, June 24, at Bath Road in the town, when a man was stabbed four times – including in the lungs and the back.

I wouldn't say quiet, Vik. Nowhere in Ireland is quiet in the early hours of a Sunday morning and it has always been a good working class drinking town. However, it is terrifying for locals who don't travel up to Dublin much to see armed Gardai and a stabbing is pretty shocking hence it's headline news. But then, armed Gardai and stabbings/shootings weren't commonplace up above in Dublin when I lived there.
If it doesn't have a roof sign and door stickers it's not a taxi.

Ya never know what is coming, even in my own Quiet Safe hometown of Douglas, Cork, 5/7/2018;

A pensioner found in a pool of blood was partially clothed having suffered a devastating beating.
Sources have said that investigators do not believe that the motive was that of a sexual nature and in fact that a personal dispute with someone he knew was the issue.
Joe O’Callaghan, 66, was found dead inside the door of his home at Galway’s Lane, Douglas, Cork by his African-born wife Angeline. He was found partially clothed from the waist down. Multiple sources have also confirmed that the 22-year-old man arrested for the murder of Joe O’Callaghan was known to the dead man.

A source said; “It now appears that a personal dispute is at the centre of this murder.

The trouble with these feuds is that they divert Garda resources from normal policing to protecting dangerous criminals from each other. We have seen the effects of that in Dublin. Low level drug dealing is now carried out overtly, reporting crime is a largely academic exercise unless it involves serious injury/murder and communities stop minding each others business through fear of not knowing who's connected with whom, etc... The shooting at a halting site in Drogheda on Wednesday is rumoured to be related to the stabbing in the beautiful seaside resort town of Balbriggan and I believe Mr. Price is to be released shortly so there is plenty of justifiable cause for concern.

The Brennans made up Clannad, Dalyer........half them ended up gee-eyed and the other half bought castles in Dalkey etc. I spilled a pint all over Ciaran Brennan by accident in 1992. He was twisted in Buglers after winning some award. His "wee sister" had to calm him down and apologise to me for his behaviour. Too many of them and too much money made from writing film scores and theme tunes....they couldn't handle it. Hollywood paid them huge money for "Doigh ar Bith" which was used in Last of the Mohicans. They changed the spelling to Doyee air bih to facilitate the Yanks and Brits.
