There's a lot of tradesmen using Lidl tools now.You'll see the foreigners in the middle aisle wearing builders gear.I find it hit and miss.I've had to return stuff that just didn't work out of the box.

Best buy so far was an SDS hammer drill that cost me 50 notes.Still going strong after lots of abuse.I've also got a laser level,an infra red thermometer and a micrometer that I haven't found a use for yet.But I've got them that's the important bit.

The amount of locked bikes that were robbed in the following weeks were astounding..Think  Lidl did not restock...

That hammer drill was bleedin amazin value.... Wen i seen all the angle grinders we'r sold I bought the drill  to fit an anchor for me basement wall an an almax chain for me bike.. Set themselves on fire gettin tru that ......

In the case of the female passenger who paid over €9.50 - including a 70c tip - in 2c coins, 1c coins and five 20c coins, the woman reported the taxi driver saying ‘What are you giving me?” and she replied the fare and tip and he said: “I don’t want it. I have enough change here.”

I'd have told her to keep it, too. Back in the good old days of the short lived Irish punt there was a limit on the number of coins that comprised legal tender. AFAIK, there's no such limits where the Euro is concerned.

I'll take whatever they are giving, if'n it is a load of coins then I just put em all in a plastic coin bag and spend em at the Tesco self-service till.
I once had a bootleg job where the customer paid about 40Euro in coins and topped it off with a 4Euro winning Lotto scratchcard, the coins I spent in Tesco and the scratchcard knocked 4Euro off my next diesel fill-up, but granted I did Block him after that job.

Makes sense.

Surely the passenger should have been advised that she is legally obliged to pay the metered fare in legal tender.

Are you suggesting that NTA lack such knowledge and/or common sense?

The driver was being nice letting her off the fare as she appeared to be strapped for cash. He probably knew that she's married to one of our own anall.
