Accountant or bookkeeper?
« on: October 02, 2018, 12:42:04 pm »
Which is best to use, I have my accounts added up but now am looking for the accounts to be submitted to revenue.

if the bookkeeper is half the price of the accountant, should I give him/her the business or are you better off using an accountant?

Sounds like you're doin the bookkeeping yourself Italia 90,

I use an accountant cos she's up to date with revenue with what can be claimed and also using the credits that my wife doesn't use.

I'm paying nearly 3 times more a year than most drivers I speak to. Probably because I do my own accounts. I can't see how they're getting away paying 600 a year unless their fabricating receipts or spending an extra 10k a year on made up expenses. Drivng an efficient Toyota that's paid for and never breaks down is actually a pain come the tax bill time. I still think I'm spending less time in the cab overall compared to having finance on a newer motor but sometimes I wonder what lies the real Accountants are putting through.

Mine was close to that Hal.I suspect some are claiming their spouse's tax credits but don't realise it because the accountant does it for them.

Maybe we're too honest MFH....although a lot of taxi men don't seem to know what prelim tax is either.

600 seems high, 2200 is crazy talk.
If it doesn't have a roof sign and door stickers it's not a taxi.

Paying next years tax on the basis of the current year liability,ye don't have to pay the full amount..if for instance ye might know that you'll be writing off an amount..ie: car loan etc.

Setting up a Direct debit with Revenue takes the pressure off,
Also eliminate preliminary tax.

he is talking tax which is added on after prsi and social charge .If you are renting your tax liability should be close to zero .
