Road Closures
« on: October 28, 2018, 08:27:40 am »
So half the city is closed off this morning because of the Dublin City Marathon but what is like to know is, what is the legal standpoint of a private company closing roads and informing us that we cannot go up/down a certain street?

Hi Vicci the way it works is you apply to DCC for permission to run your event .Your application is not published so nobody can object .Dcc see the Marathon as a great tourist event .They moved it from bank holiday monday to Sunday to reduce disruption .Or to put is simply fuck off we know best if your a taxi driver you got the extra work bringing runners from the airport or train so fuck right off .

Irregardless of who gave you permission, an Garda Shiochana are the only ones (that I can know of) that can close a road and tell us that we can’t go up a certain road, not a private security company.

Van driver, I knew all the roads that were closed so I finished at 7am as I couldn’t be arsed dealing with Assholes who think I can still drive through a blocked road because I’m in a taxi. Or that I’m just trying to bring them the long way. You’ll learn soon enough.

The bomb squad are escorted buy the gardai, who probably found the suspicious device first and called in the bomb squad.

The protesters in Johnstown didn't close the road, they just blocked it and anyone on it  lol

All sorts of unverifiable assumptions in that suggestion.

The Dublin marathon event managers, called the Marathon Events Management Ltd, have to apply to Dublin City Council for temporary road closures by filling an application form

http://www.dublincity.ie/sites/default/files/content//Documents/Application_Forms/Roads_and_Traffic/Temporary_Road_Closure_-_English_Version.pdf

Dublin City council have then to give the Minister notice in writing for temporary road closures as specified by law. The chief superintendent of the Garda Siochana within whose district the roads are situated will also be notified.
