i had my bag containing fire extinguisher, first aid kit, warning triangle etc stolen.

The company i bought it from charged me 35 euro at the time, its 50 euro now. i got my fire extinguisher back so just need the rest of the gear but the company say if they sold me the items i need minus the fire extinguisher, it will still be 50 euro.

anyone any ideas of where i should ring about getting the gear i need?

Sounds about right. Had a look at http://psv.ie - the bag is €15 and the first aid kit another €15 so, unless you have an old bag lying around you're probably better off buying the full kit.

Sounds about right. Had a look at http://psv.ie - the bag is €15 and the first aid kit another €15 so, unless you have an old bag lying around you're probably better off buying the full kit.

I don't use a bag. There is a netted area in the boot where they stack neatly loose. I lay them out in the boot at suitability. If they were in a bag, yer wan at suitability doesn't put them back in the bag anyway, she just leaves them thrown around the boot.

I find the bag serves to restrain the fire extinguisher to some extent. IMO, there ought to be a requirement for fire extinguishers to be securely strapped to the vehicle i.e. with straps secured to structural members, similar to seatbelts.

The fire extinguisher is in a carboard box, very neat, won't budge behind the netting.

How would it stand up to a crash? When my car was rear ended the fire extinguisher found it's way out of the sealed bag and left one hell of a dent in the rear passenger seat, could well have broken a strapped in passenger's back. In fact, one of the firemen noticed the damage and folded the seat down to find the culprit. The last thing you want is a fire extinguisher going off as your car bursts into flames.

I got a bit stroppy with the regulator when they introduced the safety kit,in particular with regard to the secure fixture of the extinguisher as most jammers don't have a dedicated spot for them and the damage it could do to a car full of passengers if it entered the cabin in the event of an accident.
Secure it best you can or something like that was their reply.

They tried that on me once before till I told him to put everything back where he got it and I wasnt fucking joking, he was reluctant to till I said it a bit louder..

I remember a broadly similar discussion with the halfwits when they brought in window stickers with raised braille, regarding their potential to damage electric window winding mechanisms and the restrictions to normal vision. Those stickers were withdrawn shortly after introduction.

and the regulator, Ger Deering got promoted to a better job having just written of €250k. Had a major front impact crash (€15k + vat paid by her insurance, not my fault), fire extinguisher never budged. Can't see any way the fire extinguisher in my yoke could ever enter the passenger area.

Still a possibility Bob....because we don't have a standard one type vehicle anything is possible,but we're a reactionary society,Toyota recently recalled some motors due to a software glitch that might prevent the car going to failsafe mode in the event of a hybrid failure....there have been no reports of any issues in Japan or Ireland....but they're fixing it!....inanyways,nobody in these quangos are responsible for any bad decisions they make....that's was the drivers insurance is for.
