College Green

One for the day drivers - are taxis still banned from College Green during the morning rush hour and, if so, how is the ban impacting on trade?

I see another proposal for a Plaza is to be considered for the area:

Council to lodge new application for College Green plaza

A new application for the College Green plaza will be lodged in 2019, Dublin City Council has announced.
The council’s plans to develop a pedestrian plaza at College Green were shot down by An Bord Pleanála in October, after they refused permission due to traffic concerns.

The €10m plaza, unveiled by Dublin City Council in 2016, would have seen all cars banned from the heart of the city centre. It would also have placed major restrictions on the movement of buses and taxis in the area.

Assistant Chief Executive of Planning and Property Dick Brady announced this evening that Dublin City Council will not pursue judicial review proceedings following the publication of An Bord Pleanála’s review in october.

However, Mr Brady said that the council will file a new application to pursue the project in 2019.

“The City Council will move in the new year to lodge a new application to An Bord Pleanala for the plaza and traffic management measures, having regard to the board’s decision,” he said at a Dublin City Council meeting this evening.

Mr Brady added that until then, the council will work on changes to ensure the safety of those in the College Green area, and “the efficient operation of public transport”.

The decision not to pursue a judicial review was welcomed by the vast majority of councillors present at the meeting, but many called for more details to be given in relation to the proposed new plan.

Councillor Mannix Flynn welcomed the report and the “wise decision” not to proceed with the judicial review proceedings, calling for “more details” on the traffic management plan.

“I think it’s very sensible, and I think the public would want a resubmission in relation to the plaza. Nobody out there, that I spoke to, doesn’t want a plaza. They all want a plaza.”

“Everybody wants a plaza, but the issue here is with a nine-carriage tram running across our city.”

Councillor Kieran Binchy described the discussion as a “serious” one and echoed sentiments that a report should be provided to council members before going forward.

“While the oral update on this is welcome, I do agree that this is a very serious matter.

“I think that going forward, what we should make sure of is before any further application is put in that a full written report is provided to traffic and development Strategic Policy Committees (SPCs).”

The planning board previously said the proposed civic plaza would "produce a quality public realm that would significantly enhance the amenity and attractiveness of this city centre location."

It also raised safety concerns for cyclists and pedestrians.

“In respect of cycling and pedestrians, the impacts arising from potential conflicts between cyclists and pedestrians, and of buses and emergency vehicles with both groups, are considered unacceptable from a safety point of view,” it found.
If it doesn't have a roof sign and door stickers it's not a taxi.

Thats the plan S they dont want traffic in the City so traffic control by frustration is the plan .Make it impossible for cars to navigate the City push people on to public transport and like Grafton or Henry Street you will have to make deliveries to shops during restricted hours  Dublin is surrounded by shopping centers like Blanch ,Liffey Valley Dundrum ,Swords .The Square .That is all part of the design to move shopping out of town and turn the City Center into a pedestrian mega coffey shop with restaurants ,bars museums .Turn it into a tourist trap .They want the city full of this crap and office blocks with people living in high rise tenements along the approach roads like the Nass Road ,Cherryfield they cant build sky scrapers on the northside because of the airport so kips like the sunny village of Balbriggan and holes like Drigheda will become camp sites for Dublin office workers .All this bollox about rural broadband for business is just that bollox .they need broadband to pay dole and pensions to unemployable culshies in the sticks .They plan to ethnically cleanse rural Ireland with only Knackers and rednecks living in shanty towns while the rest are forced out by lack of shops ,postoffices pubs rural transport ,hospitals ,into living on the East Coast in high rised Tenements from Gorey to Thermofeckin .Ireland in 2099 will be like Ireland in 1799 with the pesants living in squalour and all the land owned by foreign elites probably the chinease this time and not the Brits .The likes of you and me shouldnt be worried S we are the new middle class home owning self reliant families raised and educated might even have a coin or two in the bank .

If they really only wanted a Square for people to Gather then they could slab over the Liffey between Capel Street and O connell .The Mungbean munching sandal wearing  ,three hugging hippies are being used as people ranchers to round up the population into corals along the East Coast a three bedroomed house has one connection to the sewer pipe and one connection to the eSB supply the exact same amount as a 32 storey building housing a tribe  .The savings on munisipal services for the tenements would be huge .A few CCTV cameras strategically placed would replace expensive Gards .The plan S is battery farming human beings .History is a mirror into the future .1900 in Dublin only the middle classes had homes or carrages everybody else walked to their tennement .Workers forelock tugged and bowed ans scraped to their betters .Dockers and carters only had casual work zero hour contracts .WHAT HAS CHANGED .

Only one thing has changed, John.....people don't believe in anything today except their own inflated sense of self........therefore, we'll have increased violence and mayhem primarily because people don't seem capable of accepting their "lot" anymore. We also will have a hostile mob forced to live here because of western policy in their homelands...the tenements were still alive in the 60's here, but no longer will we have disgruntled alcoholic geniuses like Behan complaining about being forced out to Crumlin and Drimnagh from the inner-city, no, we will have Precious and Blessing and Ahmed and Kristof demanding your house and property because that's what they had before Clinton, Bush, Blair, Obama and Cameron took it all from them.

The 4 horsemen.China ,Russia ,Europe ,USA ,and the winner gets Asia the runner up gets Africa .USA and Europe have a soft underbelly with fucktards at the helm .Russia and China dont dilute their national identity or strength ,they stay strong for the fight .Russia unlike any other nation know kill or be killed they will go Nuke and put it up to the rest to reply and they wont have the stomach for the Fight .In the Surrender stakes The USA come a close second to the French .Russians showed more backbone than all the others in WW2 but never got the credit as Hollywood and Ealing put the victory on celluloid for the Brits and Yanks with the now Prosperous Germans and Japs as the Losers .Dont read much about German or Japaneese trailer trash or schoolshootings or drug epidemics .

Let's not omit Patrick and Maureen....busy collecting awards all over the world for folding and taking it up the shite-pipe without even a murmur of discontent. We proved our servility when Mick and Eibhlín bent over backwards in the Euros in 2016 picking up everyone else's litter.
