Old codger in his 60s, bad weather conditions, early hours of the morning. I wonder what speed the taxi was travelling at to kill the man?
The airport hill in Cork is mostly a 100kmp speed limit and there is no street lighting on the top 2km section where the incident occurred.
There is no footpath on the airport hill but it does have cycle lanes on both sides.
Why the Doctor (RIP) was walking up that hill at 5am is a mystery to me, by 4.30am in Cork on even the busiest nights, we (Taxi drivers) will have the streets hoovered clean of customers and there would have been plenty of Taxies available from 4.30am onwards.
