Limos and Hacks don’t have meters, apparently

All they're doing is covering themselves legally. As a limo or hack the fare has to be agreed in advance.Might work to the taxis advantage as the price might look too expensive on the booking screen. Also the limo lads may not like fixed fares in shitty traffic. They've been operating illegally for years by running virtual meters.

Is  there a need for a signed waiver?

About time Mytaxi decided to comply with the law regarding hacks/limos.Uber in Ireland have always been upfront with their prices. In fairness to Uber they generally do not seem to use any exec cars over 10 years old.

Hopefully Mytaxi will adopt the same attitude and get rid of the 13/14 year old shite heaps from their exec fleet.

It just goes to show doing taxi work in a limo isn't always straight forward Firewall.Ya never know which way the wind is gonna blow. You're especially vulnerable if the regulations are enforced. This is the sort of thing we warned ya about when you were deciding to go limo or taxi.

I'm guessing the complaint came from someone in Expurt unhappy that their work was getting despatched to Limos.Mytaxi have been breaking the law on this all along and nobody seemed interested.

On the plus side maybe Mytaxi might start surge pricing now that limos might get even more selective about what jobs they take.On the negative side if things go a bit quiet they can just as easily discount the jobs and have you earning half what you make now.

It says upfront pricing will be offered on Exec fares only. The virtual meter will still be used to calculate the fare where hackneys and clapped out shiteboxes masquerading as limousines are dispatched to cover taxi fares.
If it doesn't have a roof sign and door stickers it's not a taxi.

I didn't even read it properly...They've opened themselves up to a complaint by trying to divide the two types of fares. It's still illegal to not run the meter on a taxi fare without an agreement and a waiver whether it's digital or on paper.Someone complained.

Give it time... they'll be telling us all what we can charge in due course. HSE fares will probably be next.

I might send off a complaint myself to the enforcement team.Although they'll probably just send it on to Mount street where Bill will fuk me off the app.

They don't believe it's against the rules. A case taken in London (where the rules are similar) found that it's not i.e. giving the basis for calculation of a fare suffices as far as quoting the fare in advance is concerned and virtual meters are not classed as meters.

The biggest bugbear people currently have with taxis is not knowing how much it is going to cost. To be fair, those with money who want to get from A to B, will pay the price to get where they want and know the price beforehand.
It's nothing new that hackney's and limos can charge whatever they want. If there is a set price and the customer complains, they've already paid.

You might have warned me about using a limo, and I've made that choice. The cost of putting a taxi on the road far outweighs the cost of putting a limo on the road. I'm not bound by year/door stickers/meter sealing/scumbags getting in my car. I also own my own plate. I am also looking for another job(9 to 5), as I can't work the hours I do taxiing anymore, and don't want to be driving a taxi for another 35 years.

While no taxi driver likes part-timers, I personally couldn't give a toss. I work hard and provide the best I can for my family. I pay my taxes, and car is clean and legal, and I owe revenue nothing. And when the time comes to give up picking up drunks and having strangers in my car, it will be because something better has come along, and I think that's what a lot of taxi drivers would like.

Yis all want other jobs for some reason..work the day shift and you'll only need one job.I wouldn't hesitate to buy a wheely plate if that was my only option.Nobody wants to drive a taxi for 35 years but it's easy so ya just don't try anything else.
