I missed out twice on great council houses back in the day.......Was gazumped for a gaff in Mt Tallant in 2001 and walked away from another in Crumlin when I moved back from the sticks........needed too much work. Wasn't thinking straight after living in a mansion for so long.

I think the build quality in corpo gaffs is overrated.Sound doesn't travel as well through mass concrete walls vs the small blocks in a modern gaff.You can still hear the neighbours a little but it's just not as intrusive.There isn't one straight wall in my whole ex corpo gaff.Zero insulation either until I did it.Pretty sure there's is asbestos is most too.I've stripped my gaff back to the bare concrete and it's nothing special.The partition walls are made of a coal-like substance that just crumbles away with the bang of a small hammer.

If you live in a busy house you'll never hear other gaffs that's why I think there's such a myth around corpo gaffs and their build quality.

Depends when they were built. The insulation is usually shite but you can get all sorts of solutions for that these days.

Coal like substance ?breeze blocks often made by mixing sinders with the concrete save on aggate and recycle the sinders ,I worked as a brickie in Saint Andrews in Lucan .You want to see the blockwork a lad in the Penny Hill showed me how to use a line and lay a course of blocks .The Electricians were all Poles the carpenters were all chancers except for two irish lads doing second fix .The plasterers were magicians squared up everything sort of .I would think everything built after 1990 has some sort of failure .Pyrite went into more concrete products than foundations in North county Dublin .I wrote to a TD about bogey blocks and his reply was to contact Mick Wallace as he had expertese in the field .Wait till all the flaws in Greystones come to the surface .

Big companies who consigned bogey products but are quoted on the stockmarket cannot be found responsible as that would effect shareholder value and pension funds ,but poor cunt living in a box living in a card board box pays the penelty .New estates on the side of the Mountains full of Radon Gas .Gaffs built in chappo full of methane fromthe old city dump .Im sure the same gas is seeping into Clancy Quay but WTF .I once asked a priest from The John of Gods why they built their first unit in Islandbridge on top of the City Dump did they not care about handicapped childrens health .He told me I was not a Christian Man .

Cheap house. Ours was a few thousnd grands.
Ours is actually an ex corpo gaf, once referred to as Jerusalem, build in an era when materials where changing, brick walls downstairs but up stairs all stud partition walls. It’s a solid house but not one wall in the gaf is straight and ceiling heights differ from room to room, some being 7’ 11 and other 8’ 3

There was no decorating included in our gaff...which actually suited us,we painted each room at our leisure and gave the house time to dry out properly...which our neighbours didn't, they were constantly filling holes in their walls from the plasterboard nails popping through....lived with concrete floors for a long time till i put wooden floors down....the missus wants to start knockin walls down now.
