Yes I think this will happen to Taxi's eventually, if their is more than 1 driver each will have their own code/card or whatever.

Then they will take readings from our meters each year at Renewal time and give the info to our beloved Tax Man.

Meter readings have already been held to have no relevance to takings/earnings.

In less that 10 years there will be no cash just card transactions for everything subtract what you spend from what you earned if it dosent add up them taxmanbot will send you an email and they will carry out an electronic audit .

I think we need to go into revenue and cut a deal before it's too late...As a motorbike courier we got a special deal where 55% of our gross income was written off .Whether you drove a Harley or a moped.It still exists AFAIK.

How hard is it .I have 35 euro of a float at the end of the night I add up whats in my pocket subtract 35 thats my earnings if I spett money on fuel I add that back in .Then at the end of the week I add up my 3 days earnings and subtract my fuel or other costs  At the end of the month I have a monthly balance add up 12 of them I have a yearly sum then I add up other one off costs like repairs service cleaning subtract that from my earnings leaves me a total for the year I  have no car depreciation or other deductions .I go to my saccountant with those figures and he goes through them with his professional eye .He logs on to Ross on line enter the figures they give me afigure for what I owe and I pay it .

 To hear most of you going on you would think you are dealing in complexed derivitives .Earn your crust pay your tax .

Erm it's alright for you Skoda drivers with yer high maintenance costs but some of us spend almost zero on our Toyotas.When I'm driving an electric yoke my maintenance will be negligible but my card work will be almost 99% of takings.Might as well get a real job FFS.

My MKII Octavia wasn't particularly expensive to maintain, €2,899 for the 5 years I owned it as a taxi.

I haven't done the sums but my yoke probably cost me about €1399.76 over the same period..probably.

^^^^^I knew this was coming John.It will be ok for me.The lads taking 2000 a week will feel it much more.
