Post by: Belker on March 25, 2020, 06:24:02 am
The 203 has been increased to 305 (self employed included).

https://www.rte.ie/news/coronavirus/2020/0324/1126102-covid-19-wage-payments/ (https://www.rte.ie/news/coronavirus/2020/0324/1126102-covid-19-wage-payments/)
The Government is to increase the Covid-19 Pandemic Unemployment Support payment for people who have been laid-off due to the virus from €203 to €350.
The payment will also apply to the self-employed affected by the virus.
The scheme costing an estimated €3.7 billion will initially run for 12 weeks.

https://www.gov.ie/en/service/be74d3-covid-19-pandemic-unemployment-payment/ (https://www.gov.ie/en/service/be74d3-covid-19-pandemic-unemployment-payment/)
If you have already applied before the 24th of March or are already in receipt of the Pandemic Unemployment Payment you do not need to do anything. Your next payment will be paid at the increased rate.
Payment is made by electronic transfer only (into your bank account) and only into accounts held in Irish financial institutions. It will be paid in to your bank account every Tuesday once your application is processed.

@ Dalymount - you're getting a different payment.  This thread is about the no-questions-asked €203 payment (since increased) for the unemployed but not sick.  I think you're after the illness benefit (unemployed and sick) which is €305 (since increased as well).  You need a doctor's cert for your one which the doctor is meant to send it automagically since it's all computerised nowadays.  From reading your other posts, I don't think she did.  That's probably the holdup for you.

Watty when I heard nothing after a week,I went back to the surgery, and they told me its not up to them to send the cert which I thought they had done.I let a bit more time elapse, and then it seems the doctor gave me the wrong codes then apperently she gave me the wrong form also.then the guy I spoke in there said because I am approved for a state pension in June,im not entitled to a payment at all.the latest is there is supposed to be a decision letter in the post for me.I wouldnt mind, only the fukin thing is only for amax of two weeks

My advice (not being the best in the world about all this) would be to ring them to send out the form again (or print it if you can) and send it off fresh and back dated to 13/3/20 when it all kicked off.

Hal just wait it out.600000 people could be applying for this payment. Many will have no clue and the government will advise us like children in due course.

I won't be in a hurry to apply for anything after this if the city is allowed to reopen. This is free money to stop us wrecking the place.

Dalyer you should apply immediately for the 12 week payment even if they pay you the 2 weeks illness benefit. You can do it online in 5 minutes.

You need an email account, pps number and your iban and bic details for your bank account. you do not requre the public services card to apply for
the emergency payment.

Go to the following link, press the orange button 'Apply Now', scroll to the bottom and click on 'Create Acount'. you enter your email and password, they
will then send out to you email a five digit code and you need to enter to verify the email. once this is done. you can login in and enter your pps and
bank details. Do it online, it should miles quicker than fecking snail post.

I'm still waiting to receive that covid payment but I got that job seekers benefit form in the post yesterday. It says you need to fill it out ASAP and send it back. It says if you delay in sending it back they will want to know why there was a delay in sending it in.. So do we send it in or just take the 12 weeks on offer?

We should consider ourselves lucky the brits deal for the self-employed is 80% of net profit over the last three years.

On the 350 payment I'm about 190 better off than if we had that deal.Although I suspect some others do much better getting assessed under that British 80% method.

It's the same rate as the able bodied COVID dole now anyway, DM. However, the COVID 19 scheme was advertised as being available to self-employed. They seem to have processed your application as normal Illness Benefit, a road we've been down before when you were laid up.

https://www.citizensinformation.ie/en/social_welfare/covid19_and_social_welfare.html (https://www.citizensinformation.ie/en/social_welfare/covid19_and_social_welfare.html)

People who are sick and cannot work

The rules for Illness Benefit and Supplementary Welfare Allowance have been changed to help prevent the transmission of coronavirus. The changes mean that if you are diagnosed with COVID-19 or are suspected of having COVID-19 and are medically required to self-isolate, you can get income support.

The changes are:

You do not have to wait 6 days before you can apply for Illness Benefit. This means Illness Benefit can cover the first week of a COVID-19 diagnosis (or medically-required self-isolation) and any subsequent weeks.

The personal rate of Illness Benefit for people affected by COVID-19 has increased to €350 per week. It will be paid for a maximum of 2 weeks where a person is self-isolating and for a maximum of 10 weeks if a person has been diagnosed with COVID-19 (Coronavirus). If you have been certified for less than 10 weeks, you will be paid for the duration of your certificate.

The normal social insurance requirements for Illness Benefit will be waived or the means test for Supplementary Welfare Allowance will be removed, if you are medically required to self-isolate or diagnosed with COVID-19.

The Government has also stated that self-employed people will be able to get either Illness Benefit or Supplementary Welfare Allowance.

There was a warning from Minister for Business Heather Humphreys too, who told the Dáil that the pandemic unemployment payment was a solidarity payment and anyone attempting to defraud would face the full rigours of the law.  .

The Department of Employment Affairs and Social Protection has said that nearly all unemployment benefit claims received since 19 March and up to close of business today (Thurs) will be processed for payment tomorrow and will hit customers' bank accounts on Tuesday.

According to the Department, the first Covid-19 related payments for approximately 90% of claims received between 13-19 March were issued last Friday, 20 March, and were in customers' bank accounts the following  Tuesday.

I thought I'd heard her on the radio mid-week saying there would a payment today and then revert to a regular Tues next week.  Just checked - no payment into my account today (Fri).  :'(  It's getting real now.  The last payment into my account was a whopping €15 from FN 10 days ago!

Having a debate with myself whether beer counts as an essential food item  :2cheers

It depends on when you applied.
If you applied between 13-19 March then you should have got the lower rate of 203 last Tuesday. (Since increased).
If you applied since 19 -26 March then you should get the higher rate of 350 next Tuesday.

Fer myself if nothing shows by next Wednesday (applied by post Friday evening 19th) then I will be ringing them.

@sore,
That's a change to last weeks page, you couldn't apply online but only download the original Covid-19 Emergency Payment form for the €203 payment,
I still haven't received any payment as per other posters but i'm sure they're busy.

Hal just heard from a mate who applied sometime ago and got no payment as of today, he rang them and they said they had not received the
application and was advised to apply online. they say ok to apply online even if submitted paper, whichever they receive first will be procecessed.

I dunno did I fill out the postal form correctly, the amount of spaces/boxes they left fer the BIC was 2 more than I needed and the amount of spaces/boxes provided fer the IBAN was about 5 short. I treble checked it (with reading glasses on) and sober.

Anyone else have this issue ?

Why in your case was there 1 extra box ?
And in my case boxes both too long and short, surely all BIC and IBAN numbers have the same amount of characters ?

At least one extra, Ken.

My BIC is 11 characters long and there's 12 boxes on the form
My IBAN is 22 characters long and there's 37 boxes on the form (23 on one line and 14 immediately underneath)

Apparently a few applications not processed due to iban issues

However, the department said that some payments did not go forward for a number of reasons, including claims not meeting eligibility criteria, errors with IBAN numbers or an inconsistency between PPS numbers.

I don't have a printer, I filled out the form by hand.
It would seem the online form and the postal form are a tad different.
Either way I'll wait till next Wednesday and if I get nothing by then I will ring them.

I wrote earlier I thought I heard the Minister talk on the radio about a Friday payment.  I took that to mean they'd lodge it Thurs night and we'd see it Friday.  Could she have meant they'd lodge it Friday and we'd see it Monday?

Not enough boxes for the IBAN on my Covid form either so just continued outside the boxes, applied by post 19th and I've heard zip.

Surely they would have got back to you if there was a problem with it.

If I don't get anything Tuesday I'll go online and fill it in a again.

Because you couldn't do it online initially, the formnhadcto be downloaded or get one from an Intreo office(but they didn't want you doin that)
Since Leo made the announcement re the increased payment you can now apply online.
