Gardai share bizarre case of identity swap as woman caught driving taxi registered to man (https://www.irishmirror.ie/news/irish-news/gardai-share-bizarre-case-identity-23269774) (Irish Mirror)
Gardai have shared details of an identity swap case that saw a woman caught at the wheel of a taxi registered to a man. When officers from the Garda Commercial Vehicle Unit stopped a taxi, they hardly expected to discover that the driver had a different name – and gender – to the person registered to operate it. But that's indeed what they found, with the car seized as a result of the fraudulent use of the taxi.
A tweet from the Gardai reads: "The Garda Commercial Vehicle Unit stopped this taxi, where it transpired that the Taxi licence did not match the woman driving the car, as it was for a man! "The car was seized. Proceedings to follow."
The seizure came amid a heavy police presence on Irish roads due to Covid-19. Officers are operating checkpoints around the country to ensure public compliance with Level Five restrictions – which mean people can travel only 5km from home.

Well... immigrant?
In any event it seems strange for An Garda Siochana to make such a determination solely on the basis of apparent gender in these gender fluid times...

Bit of an overreaction for a housewive going to the shops? They're definitely taking the dodgy taxi angle. Maybe she had the rooflight on or FN turned on or a passenger in the taxi?
-
the only way she could have been detected is if she was spotted driving like a cunt.
they whipped out the driver check app and a different kind of aulwan was staring back at them.

Had they got guns drawn when they dragged her out of the joe?

Do you guys in the cities get stopped much at checkpoints? 9 times out of 10 I get waved on. only time I was stopped was one night I was stopped 4 times in one night in the same town, 4 different checkpoints. I think we should be stopped every time, for all the guard knows someone who doesn't have an spsv licence could be driving the taxi or the driver could be drunk, high, or transporting drugs etc.
-
Very rarely 90.....even during Lockdown II with the roadblocks they waved me through, although ye cop on very quickly that if you're in the fast lane there's not much they can do.

I wonder why they don't. its not as if taxi drivers havent been caught without a licence or for drink driving or transporting drugs numerous times in the past.
-
Used to be an unwritten rule that we would be waved through checkpoints. It changed a bit after entry liberalisation back in 2000. For a while you were more likely to be stopped than not but it seems to have swung back the other way now, particularly if you have no passengers and your roof light is illuminated. Not sure why you'd want to be stopped, T1990. Checkpoints up above in Dublin aren't manned by local friendly community minded Gardai who'll turn a blind eye to most everything these day, more often than not there's balaclava clad thugs pointing powerful firearms at you... it's like West Belfast in the 70s/80s.

I don't want to be stopped, but would have no problem with it. we once had a cheeky prick from northern Ireland driving around in his northern Ireland taxi picking people up or taxis from other counties working in a county they arent supposed to be working in.
-
If you work for Free Now you can work in any county. Loads of their men head up to Dublin when there's fuckall happening down the bog.
I assume you're white and Irish by accident of birth if you have no problem stopping for trigger happy Gardai. It's all great fun 'till black lives are lost.
-
@ 1990 .I was driving down Cork Street in Dublin approaching a Checkpoint with Fredrick,Liam and Garreth in the car I promise you getting stopped at that checkpoint was going to be the most frightening day of my life just in case one of the trigger happy lads like the one who shot the Lad in Blanchardstown was on duty .Fortunatly the Gards knew me and my Garda escort were on the way and waved us through .

I wasnt talking about freenow, just lads picking off the street in counties they had no license for.

Fuck all work on the streets up above in Dublin, at least that's what the drivers who are working say!
-
what color was the man the guards shot in Abbeylara?
id say that was the first black man ever shot by guards in Ireland. hardly a racist shooting.

How do you know they have no licence to work your county .The Law as in LAW states that the primary qualification is the LICENCES held by the driver not the sticker on the roof sign .It dosent even say the Licences displayed by the driver just held .So If I have a Dublin and Kildare licence and Display my Dublin Licence Im hardly going to change over to my Kildare licence on the Nass Road and if I did would I need to pull over ?

taxi app driver check. some drivers might get a trip 40 minutes away to a county town they have no licence for and work away. I wouldnt do it but some cheeky drivers might and do chance it the odd time.

This isnt the USA, I trust that the guards dont want to kill anyone if they avoid it. its not as if the guy was walking down the street and they pulled up and riddled him with bullets because he was black. you saw the video yourself John.

Racist or not, Blacks lives matter... although you wouldn't think so given the lack of repercussion, to date.
Rodent Justice takes time .You remember the Abbeylara Shooting of John Carthy .The most devastating result of that was not the tragic death of John but the Referendum on the Dails ability to pass judgement .This lead to a law being passed which allowed bankers and developers who got billions in Tax payers Coin when asked to come into the Dail Committies to explain what happened or what they were going to do with the taxpayers coin to tell the Dail to Go fuck themselves they had no power to ask .Act in haste repent at leisure .Just like Shinners who came out on to the streets to Protest and bang dustbin lids and pots and pans when British Troops operated a Shoot to Kill policy .I think the Black Community have every right to ask questions and hilite the event .In fact I think they have been very conservative and dignified in their reaction .
-
The demeanour of some of the Starskys, and Hutchs (no not those ones), that I see getting out of unmarked Garda cars with guns on their hips when I'm having a quiet cup of coffee in some Centra wouldn't inspire me with confidence as to their training.
-
You seem to forget who is in command of An Garda Siochana these days and his track record when it comes to shoot to kill and cover ups, T1990. Whatever about Abbeylara where the victim had a firearm to protect himself one would reasonably expect 25 of the finest in helmets and full body armour to be capable of disarming one man with a deli counter knife regardless of race. What happened there (west Dublin) was daylight murder, the Gardai may as well have swapped their UDA issue black balaclavas for white pillow cases.
-
So back to the original story .Was it just a housewife going to Aldi in her husbands taxi .Was the taxi confiscated because she had no insurance as it was insured as a taxi and only licenced taxi drivers can drive it .Can you put your Hen on your policy and is she covered for Private and Social ?

I agree, they seem to be putting their trust in GSOC and the Commissioner. If only they knew how many murders said commissioner was responsible for and responsible for covering up in his last job. To paraphrase the great Dr. Leo's paraphrasing of Joe Lycett's paraphrasing of someone more famous, peaceful protest doth butter no spuds. It's open season for Harris and his men now and the blacks lives matter crowd have only themselves to blame.

I did but REASONABLE FORCE is required ,hit 4 times they say twice in the arm twice in the body .Its going to come down to what is REASONABLE FORCE .I wasent there I did see the film I dont know from that what exactly happened .Gards are like the rest of us a rush of blood one fella shoots and his mate then backs him up out of Loyalty we just dont know what went on and we would only be speculating .After the investigation and cover up and interpretation im sure the dice will come down on its edge between yes ,no and Maybe .Compo paid out and retirements .

Racism may be a non story, but the direction of this particular incident should be a reasonably big story, i.e. at least 15 police officers were unable to disarm a man with a knife without killing him. Search Utube to find a moxy load of videos teaching the average Joe or Josephine how to do it, without the train fare to Templemore.
-
How many of those the Gardai shot and killed were armed only with a deli counter knife? Maybe someone other than MMW can answer given his proven gullibility in race related incidents.

Specialist non-lethal tactic not available to gardaí on day of Nkencho shooting (https://www.irishtimes.com/news/crime-and-law/specialist-non-lethal-tactic-not-available-to-garda%C3%AD-on-day-of-nkencho-shooting-1.4453496)
Story in today's Irish Times saying the Guards do have a method for dealing with a bloke with a knife. The Public Order Unit/Riot Squad are specially trained for this and got their training off the Scottish police (don't know why they mentioned that?).
“Outdoor VDP [violently deranged persons] tactics” involves six officers in full riot gear and carrying shields forming into three groups of two and descending on a suspect in a pincer movement. Other officers standing behind them deploy Mark 9 pepper spray canisters – a much larger versions of the canisters carried by ordinary members – and spray the suspect over the top of the shields. The suspect is then pinned to the ground by the shields before being disarmed. The suspect “never gets more than one swing in and never any major injuries”, a source said. The tactics can be altered if a suspect enters a house or goes upstairs. Garda training in the tactic, which can only be used on suspects with bladed or blunt weapons, is based on that used by Police Scotland.
Unfortunately, the riot squad was not on patrol that day and the armed Guards had to do what they did.
That will probably be the GSOC conclusion - very sad but justifiable death given the circumstances. More Guards, more money and more training needed. A nice compromise for everybody O:-)
-
Maybe, Hal. Send one of theirs to the morgue and I'd say you'd have a bit more than peaceful protest to deal with. Them blacks lives matter folk should hang their heads in shame... or pride if they prefer. The meek will inherit the earth... if that's alright with the rest of ewes.

Whatever that's supposed to mean??
This is how you treat someone who comes at you with a knife if you are a cop with a gun.

Did you make the video yourself, MMW?
If you're on your own and in the United States of America, maybe. If there's a squad of 25 highly trained men in full body armour one would reasonably expect an arrest.

Its gas but all these want to appear goody 2 shoes that say in defence of the fellow who was shot in blanch had mental health problems and shouldn'thave died .....also say that the homeless have mental health problems as a way of blaming them for ther state of
Homelessness

You're not wrong Octy....some people making a lot of money out of being do-gooders.
-
Loads of people have died of COVID '19, Octy. How many were homeless and what colour(s) were they?
To be fair, there's plenty of do-gooders working for/with the homeless. Even in the beautiful seaside resort town of Balbriggan we have a group who travel all the way up to Dublin - city centre - to feed them and distribute used clothing every week. The homeless problem is quite complicated in reality. At least 57% of those registered as homeless aren't homeless, they're just trying to increase their chances of getting a council house or other rent free accommodation. Then there's the NIMBYs - no neighbourhood wants them when push comes to shove.

the majority of those that died from Chinese flu in America wer black ratti ..the chinese flu targeted those of dark skin unfortunately . ...a fact that was exploited by those of influence within the black communities for ther own personal financial and political gain at the expense of the ordinary black who already suffers exploitation and poverty and bias within the American community and law ...
Nevertheless opportunity exists for all men within America if yur prepared to work hard enough for it
.....the blm movement I say again is a con and a fraud which has become a global phenomenon...one which should be scrutinised and examined very carefully because
It just doesn't stand up to reality
No country on earth has bein more welcoming of refugees than ireland ......I refute the narrative that irish people are racist .... Irish police are not fukin racist ...and I demand that the new irish negroid reject this inherited American racial hatred born of deceit and lies for profit , bigotry , race card and complete and utter nonsense be rejected by ordinary descent people everywhere....black , white , brown ....it doesn't matter . ...
We can live together as one people ...but this blm shit that is being displayed in ireland by blacks is causing a rift by the day that is doing irreparable damage .
Do we really want that in this beutiful garden of eden on earth ?

Disarming an intoxicated person with a knife; (True story).
It was circa 1989 and I would have been a young fit 24 year old with 2 years of Shotokan karate training behind me.
I was the manager of a very busy Northside bookie shop and it was my morning off.
I got a call on my house phone from my shop settler Mark about noon telling me that 'Jimmy from the North' had gone beserk in the shop. I knew Jimmy well, he was grand 99% of the time but if he had drink on him which was very seldom that he was a dangerous man to deal with.
I was Up, Dressed and across the city to the office within 20 minutes to find Mary the cashier weeping behind the counter, as Mark explained to me that there had been a discrepancy about a bet and Jimmy in his best nordie accent had told Mary that; "He would have her put against a wall and Shot !". Which had kinda upset Mary a tad, so I sent her off home fer the day.
All forgotten about, we worked on a tad under staffed but we managed.
-
It was a long counter layout facing out to the shop with a side door (seldom locked), the staff inside nearest to the side door is the settler, followed by the cashier in the middle (whom had been sent home) and lastly the shop manager.
About 3pm Mark the settler runs past me screaming something or other, and I see a balaclaved man with a knife just inside of the side counter door, inside the counter, I know it's Jimmy behind the balaclava but he is drunk and he has a knife, not a very big knife, only about 3 or 4 inches long but he is coming at me very aggressively, there is no where to run, I am completely trapped within the counter and with my settler Mark quaking in his boots behind me.
I hold my ground (like I had a choice) as he comes toward me with the knife.
All my flash thinking within the 2 seconds I had was;
Firstly no way was he getting a body shot at me to stab and maybe kill me,
Then I thought; 'Give him a leg' but then thought; 'Naw, I'm kinda fond of that',
Then thought; 'Give him an arm', but again thought; "Naw, I'm fond of that too'.

I drew back in to Shotokan fight stance and Jimmy hesitates. I'm only seeing One prize 'Jimmy's wrist' and as he hesitates, I lung fer it and grab his knife wielding hand bashing it off everything, counter, till's, drawers, anything in sight and we struggle fer a good long minute or more, an elderly customer from outside the counter leans in and grabs Jimmy's balaclava off him during the struggle. I had Jimmy's wrist with both my hands and I was never letting go till the knife fell, I kinda felt my life depended on it.
With unexpectedly having his hood removed Jimmy relaxed his grip on the knife and eventually with all my bashing he dropped it. I picked up the knife and fired it away out of harm's reach, Jimmy turned tail and ran fer the side counter door, I rooted him One in the ass as he fled.
Once outside the counter Jimmy spotted the elderly customer who had taken his balaclava off him during the struggle and 'Bopped' him One opening up a nasty gash on the old fella's forehead. I went out to the customers aid holding Jimmy in a 'Half-Nelson' fer about 5 minutes but eventually he struggled free and legged it out the door.
The Gardai and all that were called, and we went searching fer him, but Jimmy took the 'Midnight Express' back to the North that night.

You haven't answered the question, Octy. How many homeless have died (as a result) of COVID '19 and what colour were they?
