GAA or GaGa
« on: July 21, 2019, 11:33:04 am »
Watched a bit of yeaterdays fare from Croker a dissapointing crowd .So here is the question is the GAA dead financially as nobody are going to the games .the biggest crowds at any of the main Grounds this year have been conserts .I had one of the Dublin County Board in the car last night and I put this to him then I said was he aware that the new stadium is it Casement Park in Belfast was delayed because the local council (God save the Queen ) would not grant them an entertainment licence as it was a sporting venue and was in reciept of Government funding from Westminster ,and without concerts it was a financial red  herring .He sort of agreed he recons its Dublin fans that are keeping the Association out of the red he said they need Cork back near the top as their supporters turn up.Looking at the Curragh yesterday the crowd was poor for an Irish Oaks Day .Is there just too much sport available .

Only 17k at the Munster football final this year.
I remember back in the 80s going to a Cork and Kerry final down the park and around 50k there.

Irish soccer is a second no third rate product a total waste of money the heads running it would purloin any funds .The future for LOI is to go back amateur and local lads playing locally Wouldnt matter how much money you trow at LOI football its absolute shite .Until LOI sides are obliged to have Schoolboy sides affiliated the league will get no better .Go out any sunday and watch schoolboy football its all hit and run total lack of skill .Kids dont learn ball control any more playing street football .Cherryorchard and Ballyfermot Utd were huge teams thought boys how to play Homefarm were world leaders but now nobody gives a fuck about schoolboy football .I use to manage a schoolboy team but I wouldnt bother now .A good mate of mine was sued because a player fell getting off the bus Insurance didnt cover it but the kids parents said that my pal did not control the group .The case was lost but still cost over 8K to defend it .He won but he lost .FAI destroyed the game all about a big statement stadium and wages and fuck the players .

They pretend it's about culture, but in reality it's about votes.

Well tell me this then, if Bohemians have a tie to St Kevin’s, why isn’t there a St Kevins team in the LOI?

My local club have an academy for 4-7 year olds and over 25 different teams going up to men’s senior. Why isn’t that team in LOI?

Because it’s shit, that’s why.

Play for the passion of the sport, like GAA. amateurs make better players

Our best players  there arent 20 decent Irish Players earning a good living in the UK The problem is We teach 9 year olds to play on a full size pitch our standard is retarded dirt ansolute sub standard our standard is so shit poor that Irish players cannot get a game in any other european league .Then you have clubs only waiting to sell their grounds for profit your own included .Ballyfermot UTD sold their pitches for housing .Soccer is a business clubs want to develope livestock to sell on .

Your typical LOI knocker . Irish people who have  never been inside the gates of a LOI ground in their. lives, and feel qualified to offer an opinion on the standard of our league.not only do I support my own club, but I will go and support dundalk in the next round of the champions league as I did in the first round.the dundalk people welcomed me as I stood there cheering on their team in Europe wearing my bohs Jersey and thanked me for the support

Wasn't George best Irish?  Well sort of...
I can't believe the kids here can't be as good as anywhere in the world...me 2 boys have  started to play soccer last September and I'm amazed at the skills all the kids have....and the coaches I've met are all very decent dedicated volunteers that seem absolutely fanatical about football and the kids doing well .... The kids are all good mannered and polite and it's teaching them to handle aggression and disappointment...
I know nothing about the politics of soccer
But it does seem to have had a lot of bad publicity in Ireland lately..... The boxing is gone to shite with drug dealers taking over the show...

The lure of big money in England or Europe is surely going to take all the good players
Away....

When I moved back to Ireland, I tried going to Dalymount.  At least I tried.  Thought it might be better than going to the pub.

It was shite.  We went in on the Connaught St side @ the side of the shopping centre.  There was no access to the food van on the posh side.  The stewards disappeared a few minutes after the game started and people went out to the off-licence across the road and came back with a few tins.  The football was absolute shite and we couldn't believe we'd actually paid in to watch it.  I'm not saying this to annoy you but we honestly thought we could do better.  We were dumbfounded to think the team actually thought they were good enough to charge money to watch them.

There was so little atmosphere, I reckon you could have a conversation with someone in the stands on the other side of the pitch.

If I had a tenner to spend again on Friday night Sport, I'd rather buy a few cockroaches and race them across my kitchen floor rather than submit myself to that experience again.  Maybe things are different nowadays but I'll never know 'cause I ain't going back!

Re the GAA, I'm not a GAA-head but I reckon;
- It's gone too expensive for a dad & his kids
- Too many women attending so the dads can't get away from the missus for the afternoon (maybe he should get a taxi licence!)
- There's only 2 or 3 good teams in each code so there's no real excitement or anticipation.  At the start of the season, the conversation is usually about who'll play Dublin in the final.
- People miss the fighting on the pitch.

I think gambling has ruined the quality of sport .Some desperate shite being organised for people to gamble on like first corner first free kick .Looked at tomorrows racing not one horse running worth more than its value as meat in reality most of them will end up as dog meat .If I want to watch horses I usually go the curragh early morning and watch themwork you usually find a work watcher who knows who is working and what race they are getting ready for .Aiden O brien has ruined Irish racing with 4,6 or 7 horses in some races and Mullins has killed jumps racing .Irish racing has little if any entertainment value British racing is absolute dirt .In two weeks we are going to be treated to slaughter house racing from Galway animals that should be slaughtered running for betting purposes only .
