As I've explained before an independent driver like me has little, or no chance of survival in this game unless you align yourself with a dispatcher. The fact is , that a huge number of drivers have already done so, thereby I become surplas to requirements I have stated before, I will always uphold the principle of SELF EMPLOYMENT, and I will NEVER allow Kearns Kelly or Ebbs to tell me how to run me business the fact that others do, is something I have no control over, but you can see why I will almost certainly be out of a job. I have also shelved plans to buy a new car for that reason

You also have the fact that you had the intelligence and wherewithal to do something productive and of value to ensure you were pension-entitled before risking your future on a whim like driving a taxi for a living. Plenty like you, Dalyer, but also plenty of bitter fuckers who decided earning a managing director's salary was a cert for life......and still believe that someone shafted them based on a false market.

Well in glad for you a STC but it's just not for me. I believe allignment to a radio company undermines the very fundamental principle of being self employed. As I said before Vinny Kearns etc will NEVER get the chance to treat me like a lap dog and direct how I run my business I have no control over other drivers and what they choose to do,but I will be happy in the knowledge that I never bowed the knee to these people

not directed at you STC, but if drivers are so Willing to give up their self employed status, then it begs the question why did they leave the PAYE sector in the first place ?

I know DM, it is a pity that the industry has ended up the way it is, I can remember there was no laptops or mobile phones , look at us now, we cant live without them.

Lippy tbh my pension from Eircom would certainly not sustain me alone, but it helps greatly as a bargaining chip when trying to secure a loan . No I would be still reliant on employment, to sustain me, but I chose SELF EMPLOYMENT not employment where Kearns Kelly or Ebbs is telling me what to do

It's not supposed to sustain you, but you still had the balls and the nous to know that driving people around with little or no skills was never going to promise a great bounty. Ebbs and Kearns et al are the least of your worries....it's other taximen telling you they have the solution....
