In 1951, Ireland experienced an influenza epidemic. Two physicians, Patrick Meenan and M. Clarke, documented this epidemic in an article published in the Journal of the Irish Medical Association. At the time, Meenan and Clarke were working in the WHO Influenza Centre, in Dublin's St Vincent's Hospital. Meenan subsequently became the Dean of the Faculty of Medicine at University College Dublin and president of the Medical Council of Ireland.

Same article I guess?  https://www.rte.ie/brainstorm/2021/1213/1266451-ireland-1951-influenza-epidemic-vaccines-deaths-schools-businesses/

Quote
Analysis: without effective vaccines, the flu epidemic 70 years ago caused many deaths, closed schools and impacted businesses

Quote
The death rate from influenza in 1951 was 81 per 100,000 population, which compares to a rate of 9.4 deaths from influenza per 100,000 population in 1949. Evidence for Ireland suggests that the death rate from Covid-19 (so far) is about 111 per 100,000 population.

The similarities between the 1951 influenza epidemic and the Covid-19 pandemic are striking. They both reached here from abroad and have caused many deaths, especially among the older population. They have had a significant impact on people's daily life and have forced children to stay home from school.

However, there also important differences. The Covid-19 pandemic has been much longer in duration and has been deadlier - and it is not over yet. The main difference between now and 1951, though, is that vaccines that are working have been specifically developed. We have an effective tool to fight the spread and deadliness of Covid-19. People in 1951 were not so fortunate in this respect.

History has a habit of repeating itself 100 years ago the Hong Kong Flu killed more people than WW1 now we are seeing this from China ..China has reported 139 new cases of a mysterious virus in two days, with the outbreak spreading from Wuhan to other major Chinese cities.

Beijing, the capital, reported two cases, while the southern tech hub of Shenzhen reported one case.

The total number of confirmed cases now exceeds 200, and three have died from the respiratory illness.

The sharp uptick in those infected comes as millions of Chinese prepare to travel for the Lunar New Year holidays.

Health officials have identified the infection, which first appeared in Wuhan in December, as being a strain of coronavirus. They say it led to an outbreak of viral pneumonia, but much about it remains unknown.

Although the outbreak is believed to have originated from a market, officials and scientists are yet to determine exactly how it has been spreading.

South Korea reported its first confirmed case of the virus on Monday, following two in Thailand and one in Japan.

The outbreak has revived memories of the Sars virus - also a coronavirus - that killed 774 people in the early 2000s across dozens of countries, mostly in Asia.

Analysis of the genetic code of the new virus shows it is more closely related to Sars than any other human coronavirus.

Make you wonder if some military are trying to develope Flu as a Military weapon .?

Numbers gone up 81 dead up untill yesterday today its 104  Thats roughly twenty a day same as the day before and the day before .Makes you think this is all a load of bollox or a huge cover up .Its hardly getting worse if the same amount of people die each day .I would think more of Chinas Billion and a half people died from falling in the streets than died from flu .

Sorry Doc Me Copywrite for the first use OF LOAD OF BOLLOX but you did make the slogan your own  rofl rofl rofl
