The army are just there to make up the shortfall of cops. They won't be walking around with guns unless there are serious public order problems.

Agree.

Reckon if the population fails to follow advice not to congregate etc.then they will enforce traffic/movement restrictions on roads and public transport. But I get a sense that people get the idea. As long as the authorities are correct about supply chains not being affected.

Rat I honestly believe your trying to wind me up.SURELY you dont believe that a dispatcher calls the shots when it comes to charging ? If I,and thousands of taxi drivers worked WITH (not for ) a dispatcher and they told us what we can charge, and we said fukk off,do you still think tha dispatcher would be in business if he insisted in it ?  Not a chance ,but we would still be In business
I for one will be charging whats on the meter and approved by law, FN or anybody else can go and Fcuk themselves
100% right BOBO the clown gives 15%..You would think FN during a crisis would reduce there commission, not a chance as pure greed they will give free sambos and coffee and the drivers will love it

The New York story has been proved to be fake news.
NYPD have said there'll be no shutdown of the subway.

Of all the Irish Politicians at this moment the Right man is in charge .As you know I have no time for the Cunt but he is showing some determination to sort this out .Imagine Ryan as Taoiseach telling us to cycle and eat cabbage or Mary From Cabra telling us Catholics and Children First into the Bunkers or Profit from the People telling us to take over Ailsbury and Shrewsbury Road Or mick from Cork burbling in language only he understands .If the Kill rate in Ireland is below Italy he will have done well.

Why wait till next week use your intelligence .Our army or police service wouldnt win a bar fight if they told us to stay in and we didnt then what ,they would lose control Big Dommos grankids would rob banks .I was looking at the crowds in the supermarkets wondering why did the q to pay just walk out if one did it all would follow who could stop them .My mate who supplies casual labour has been asked to recruit lads to work the doors in a major supermarket chain to stop a major raid by organised criminals .

Still not real to some people. Queues at supermarkets and cafes full of parents with kids.  They will only wake up to it with some sort of shock.

Approach now is to encourage people to co-operate, think and use common sense. Thats the problem. If they dont get it the authorities will have to impose rules instead of asking for co-operation.

Irish dont like being told what to do. Neither do the Italians and look whats happening there now as a result of their casual attitude.

Im hearing rumors that Luas drivers are to hold a vote to withdraw service due to risk of infection from passengers .Company says that they must wait for government to make the decision as they are liable for a fine of 100k per day for every day the service does not run and if the drivers withdraw their service the company will go to the commercial court and go into voluntary insolvency .Meaning drivers lose their jobs and only get statutory redundancy .

This is where I got the info'...Erm had the only copy of The Sun!
In the middle of the growing coronavirus panic in New York City, the New York City Police Department tweeted an all-caps dismissal of a viral rumor that's been spread through mass texts and on social media.

"THERE IS A LOT OF MISINFORMATION ON SOCIAL MEDIA," the tweet said. "ONE TWEET IN PARTICULAR IS FALSE. CONTRARY TO WHAT IT SAYS THERE ARE NO PLANS BY THE NYPD TO SHUT DOWN ROADWAYS OR SUBWAYS."

The NYPD didn't link to the tweet it was referencing, but mass fake-news texts have been circulating that suggest otherwise. One of the widely shared texts alleges someone's coworker said on Slack they had lunch with Emma Bloomberg, former New York City Mayor Mike Bloomberg's daughter, and that her phone "was going off like crazy."

The text, which is false, goes on to allege that NYC Mayor Bill de Blasio and New York Gov. Andrew Cuomo are "likely going to announce a quarantine of NYC" on Thursday or Friday, which could result in the subway shutting down, so text recipients are urged to buy groceries immediately.

Another widely circulated fake-news text message says someone's friend of a friend who works in emergency management at the NYPD said the subway would be limited, with parts shutting down entirely, and that only emergency vehicles would be allowed on the road. That text recommends recipients stock up on food, water, and cash "because groceries and atm machines will have limited ability to be refilled."
