What did/will you go for after the 6 weeks, bearing in mind that you "have to" apply for Jobseekers within the 6 weeks, Ken?

If the kids are available for and looking for work they are entitled to Jobseekers. My younger not so young lad was told he's temporarily laid off from his part-time job and he was given the COVID 19 form... not sure if his part-time contributions will qualify him for Jobseekers Benefit after the 6 weeks so, again, he'll have to find out what he's entitled to... if Mrs. Catcher's salary keeps being paid I doubt he (or I) would get the means tested Jobseekers Allowance.

Yes, I went fer the 203 fer 6 weeks.

I'm just wondering are school or college kids over 18 entitled to it ?

Don't think school or college kids would be entitled to it by that very definition, you'd be entitled to claim if they were dependents.

Did the NTA issue Taxi drivers a warning from the Garda about Social Distancing .For those who read it with their eyes not their mouth .We have been INSTRUCTED by the Garda to Distance ourselves from people .In theory the state have ordered us cease trading .We are not unemployed but shackled by both the NTA and An Garda from going about our Lawfull.Pity some Dispatchers see a business opportunity to offer discounts and grow their brands rather that engage with the state to compensate drivers for responding to OFFICIAL instruction .

There was no mention of PRSI contributions on the 1 page pandemic 6 week emergency form, which has got me thinking ?

You  got the PM the 6  weeks will be extended for the self employed just get the payment .No need to apply for Unemployment you as self employed are not Unemployed you are ready to go back to work immediately you are advised it is Ok .

The 6 weeks will probably be extended, that's pretty obvious. It is conditional on you applying for Jobseekers within what is currently 6 weeks. Applying for doesn't mean you will get it... obviously if you're ineligible you won't. However, the fact that you are ready to return to self-employment doesn't necessarily mean you are not eligible to receive Jobseekers Allowance. While you cannot continue in self employment if in receipt of Jobseekers Benefit you can while in receipt of Jobseekers Allowance with no restrictions on the hours you may work. Notably the instructions simply say you have to apply for "Jobseekers" without specifying Benefit or Allowance. Under current rules Allowance is your only option if you intend to remain self-employed.

Contributions are irrelevant for the emergency payment. While you are required to apply for "Jobseekers" within the emergency period - currently 6 weeks - interestingly they have stated that reconciliation may involve backdated increased payments for certain customers. This suggests that no reimbursement will be sought from those who reconcile in the red. In other words anyone and everyone will get a few notes for 6 weeks, no questions immediately asked.

But you are still required to apply for "Jobseekers" within that period. Applying doesn't mean you will get anything.

Caveat:- Not set in stone yet....expect it to go well beyond that...possibly mid June. If teachers don't work last day in June or in that last week, they don't get paid for the summer...that is from a man teaching 22 yrs in Coolock.

You'd be wiser not to apply at all if her salary is maintained....don't think it will be though...possibly half or 2/3's max.

I overheard some kids in the supermarket suggesting that there will be no leaving cert this year and everybody will be deemed to have passed, they were speculating on how points might be awarded/calculated. Jeez, ifn the erm was born in 2003 he'd have passed his leaving!

Within 6 weeks ? do it on the last day that will qualify .If you do it earlier you might get turned down earlier .Join the dots gentlemen .

Might mot be funny if you're facing one of these "academically gifted" mongs in a Dr's surgery later on though. There's method to their madness...this is a well-thought out societal whirlwind.
