If drivers believe themselves to be an essential service.then so be it.....and maybe instead of the NTA advising drivers to download posters for passengers to take note of drivers names/ID....maybe those drivers might consider for the safety of their families to ask the passengers name and PPS numbers....as the NTA haven't seemed to advise that to operators....for contact tracing of course!!

Im considering the only ones opinion and the Rodents .The idea is to slow down the infection not wipe it out .Only makes a decent point essential workers do need transport and if you feel inclined to cover that work thats a business decision dont forget we are business men involved in the licenced transport business .Sooner or later we will all have to decide when or if to returm Im following Occis advice and not working .I dont know if it was Occi or Merc said they will return when the Pubs reopen I consider that a fair barometer of when I will return .

RIP Mick. I didn't know him but I believe he was a true gent.

Did you read the article, erm?

-Quote-

Mick's daughter Emily had earlier posted about the Tallaght family's harrowing experience, and it has since been shared thousands of times on social media.

She said: "So still think that coronavirus won’t get you? Here’s the real story, my dad was due to leave hospital on Monday after having surgery (107 days).

"Unfortunately he started to cough and they swabbed him and he tested positive."

- end Quote-
If it doesn't have a roof sign and door stickers it's not a taxi.

Calling Tony a lowlife is outrageous IMO theoneandonly.
However, what Tony posted is very insensitive, and that post should be removed before the children of the deceased read it.

He'll get over it, people need to be mindful of what they write on social media and the effect it might have on others, what he said was fairly low IMO

Na, i thought i was a tad sensitive but i was only speaking the truth.

Fares should be restricted to bookings with licensed dispatch firms... simples!

It'd be a good time for Free Now to lobby... an unelected Minister and essential workers paying through the nose to keep the country afloat...

Oneandonly im afraidi could not agree with you on complementing those drivers who are out there still working .I do believe it is not driven by any sense of dedication to health workers,I believe it is driven purely by greed, and I have no doubt most if not all of them are also claiming the 350 a week payment as well
Let me assure you, I was talking to a Garda in Dunnes in cornelscourt and i ask him about taxis claiming and working and he said its being noted at checkpoints for the NTA and obviously passed to social protection. They will be dealt with in a hard way.

Good, revenue and social are doing the rounds too at ranks in Dublin so anybody caught working and claiming will be done, i reckon they should have their licence revoked for a 6 month period too the dirty disease spreading poxes

I agree 100% Tony ,The money they taking could be used to buy more Ventilators.Im sure the media would go to town on them to.Revoke licence permanently would be best option in wartime settings.

Problem with this is,although the vast majority of us adhere to the recommendations from the HSE,when it becomes public knowledge that these drivers were caught doing this,we will all be tared with the one brush in the eyes of the public.I hope the guards ARE taking notes and passing it on to revenue, but I ALSO hope they are noting the fact that most drivers are NOT using their roof sign, and are therefore not working
