Glasgow Taxi Drivers Association Statement (Facebook page)
« on: April 04, 2020, 03:55:09 am »
We are in utter shock after hearing that there are several Glasgow cabbies very ill at the moment with the Covid-19 virus. Sadly more than one have now passed away.
Glasgow cabbies are a close knit community and this is absolutely heart breaking and frightening.
We would like to send strength and best wishes to those trying to get well. To the drivers that have lost their lives we are so very sorry and would like to pass on our thoughts and prayers to their loved ones.
Please try to stay safe fellow cabbies.

Im lost for words on this lads. ???

Gas fukin thing about it is, the last people on earth who need discounts at the moment is the health workers they are working so much overtime, that they don't have time to spend it. If these hero taxi drivers want to help, why don't they go down to the morning star and help giving out the food.

+1. Because they're not working to help. I'd imagine most are claiming the 350 too.

I have no doubt they are ALL claiming it. That's why I cannot understand why there is no requirement on them to break the link, or in some way it should be recorded that they are working

Know a guy who got the €350, then went to his Intreo office and asked them to take it back and give him the €203 so that he could work a "little", they did it no problem.
Trump has called for help, so I'm on a plane heading for The Strait of Hormuz, talk soon.

100% Good comment go and help out at food banks or something else you not putting yourself and others at risk.Im calling that ALONE organisation to see if they want me to do shopping for the elderly people .I do really think the guys driving taxis now need the money badly as lads on Indian groups pay big money for Breadvans and those prius cars, and also rent plates. But they need to engage with Banks and renter bodies as driving in a war zone with a invisible enemy .You won't win and could be pushing up daiseys

Honestly I'd just keep working if I was gonna do it anyway. The likelihood of them checking afterwards is very slim. And if they do catch ya you can pay it back over ten years.

MFH while the civil service are slow to act, make no mistake about it they will check. Minister Humpheries recently made a statement saying anyone found to defrauded the dept of social protection, will be dealth with, by the full rigors of the law. I for one believe her
