How do you feel
« on: May 03, 2020, 11:03:29 am »
I feel the situation the world finds itself in is to some extent a bit of a novelty. Fear of the unknown is always there, yet I get a strange burst of enthusiasm for life occasionally, and am encouraged by even the slightest bit of positivity I hear from the scientists, that they are working hard on finding a vaccine. Sometimes my enthusiasm makes me want to shout it from the rooftops. Every evening I listen to Dr Tony holohan, hoping that the number of reported deaths will be lower then the day before., I also hope the number of reported cases of infections will be lower than the day before as well. I'm in a kind of a rut as regards going back to work, a large part of me doesn't really care if I go back or not, yet like all of you I can't afford not to my thoughts are how will life change for us all when this is all over, will we ever see what we used to call normality again, if your like me, you will love to hear people talking about cures, vaccines, and return to normal life.

I'm loving my first decent spell of time off since my school days!
On the virus front I'm getting the impression it spreads more like the cold than the flu and that a vaccine/real cure probably isn't happening, they'll hopefully get better at treating people and less will die, but once normality resumes we're all probably getting this
hopefully I'm wrong

The world ain't gonna turn the way it used to for a long time
There be no packed rugby matches no rammed coppers nightclub no mad busy nites no gangs of silly Christmas jumpers looking for lifts home
Announced today flights will rise to1980 prices so no cheap weekends away which fucks airport work up
Taxi business is fucked 100 euro a long nite be the norm

I pity anyone with big overheads

I'd three months off last year due to bilateral hip replacement surgery.
This year is looking similar.
I'm enjoying every minute.

I'm kinda off since Christmas. It's getting a little boring but with everything closed and no foreign holidays this year I can't really spend money so no need to be earning.

Dreading going back as the industry won't be the same for a good while.More hours ,less money, more overheads.I'll be milking the 350 for as long as it lasts.

The thing I'm a little afraid of is, when restrictions are lifted to a great extent, and it appears the worst is over, will the scientists take their respective foots of the gas , and the cure becomes less urgent

If the government weren't paying us to stay home I reckon most of us would be out spreading the virus.

Well I think that was the thinking behind it. If we incentivise them enough, then they will stay at home, and in fairness they did incentivise us, but encouraged by the likes of Ebbs, with his 2 Bob screen , the greedy was to much for lots who claim the 350,and work as well

Think the real problem will come after the Sitting Down Money is stopped or reduced to 203 .Listening to Leo on the telly he says .Ireland is one of only a very few countries that counts fatalities that occur both outside and inside hospitals and do not deduct for underlying condition .Ie Big Dommos Aunty was in a hospice on borrowed time and she got pneumonia  or some other symptom associated with the fever that would be counted as a corona death and until the lab work is completed later on will they have a genuine figure .So figures for nursing home fatalities might be over estimated and the actual fatality rate could be lower than reported .I know of one case and 2018 reported here his dad was unwell .I like numbers and if you look at the number of infections per million in certain US States you have to wonder if there was an over reaction in some countries that triggered others .All eyes on USA now to see what happens when they lift the lockdown and raise their Rifles in their Cold angry hands .Tourism,Hotels,Pubs wont be back properly till next year so our business will be slow to pick up .
